It's our youngest son's birthday today. It has been an adventurous life for him and he thrives in this environment. We are so thankful for the blessings to be his family. We found the first ripe dewberries today..the blackberries are not far behind. Wild onions/garlic are starting to bloom. Fresh pasture move for our feathered flock. Another squash blossom and spinach omelette made ..it's a glorious day and even better that we get to celebrate this rainbow toddler of ours 🥹

Strawberries and Whipped Cream remind me of special treats

Storytime - while on my first flight✈️ as a little girl ..My mom and I were flying to Texas (1987).
A flight attendant came by my seat asking if I needed anything. I asked her if she had strawberries and whipped cream. She smiled and said let me see what I can do and walk all the way to the front. Sure enough , she came back with a full bowl of whipped cream topped with strawberries. I was beaming and said thank you. She said you're very welcome sweetie. My mom had been resting and when she looked over she smiled and said where did you get that? I said I just asked for it , still beaming 😁

Yes, I was also a fan of Strawberry Shortcake 🍰 💕🍓

The beginning of a persimmon. We're still months away from these delicious fruits ripening but I look forward to the biscotti and braided Homestead Buns I'll get to make for my family and YOU again 🫶🏽

Our signature Persimmon Biscotti was quite the hit last fall through the and one of my favorite treats to make. The buns were extra fun because I began making a Levain from my sourdough starter using persimmon puree.

Baking seasonal goodies makes looking forward to them extra sweet. So even though they're months away, fret not, they'll be returning once the season is ripe 🫶🏽🫶🏽

6 years ago I started my sourdough journey while 7 months pregnant in the Hampton Falls Apartments . Daydreaming of all the things I would make for my family and friends once I was in my dream kitchen on the homestead.

When it finally became fully active I made sourdough chocolate chip cookies (pictures included). Upon tasting one for the first time...a stream of happy tears and laughter came. I finally exclaimed that I had found the missing piece to the cookies I had eaten 16 years prior and tried desperately to recreate. Yes this Mama was on the hunt for the perfect chocolate chip cookie since 2004!! 😂🥹

SOURDOUGH STARTER 💕💕

I also wanted my kids (self included ) to enjoy a few at a time, so I opted for a small cookie scoop.

Over the last few years I tinkered around with the recipe and was fully satisfied with the result. I was able to bring these to the public last year through the . It fills my heart with gratitude to hear all the positive feedback on taste , texture, and how cute they are for being the size they are 🫶🏽
