Sometimes the best lesson plans have four legs, floppy ears, and absolutely no respect for the schedule. 😆
Our Equine-Assisted Learning session took an unexpected detour when some adorable baby goats showed up at the barn. Suddenly, horses weren't the only teachers in the arena!
There were smiles, snuggles, giggles, and plenty of opportunities to practice gentleness, patience, confidence, and connection. Because whether it's a horse, a goat, or a Highland cow, animals have a special way of helping us slow down, be present, and enjoy the moment.
Let's be honest... when baby goats arrive, the lesson plan writes itself. 🐐❤️

Sometimes the most important jobs happen behind the scenes.
A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who recently purchased a new wheelbarrow for the ranch and labeled it "SLR Housekeeping." 🛞✨
While our horses may never send thank-you notes, they certainly benefit from the countless hours our volunteers spend mucking stalls, cleaning paddocks, feeding lunch, filling water buckets, and tackling all the little tasks that keep the ranch running smoothly.
At Silver Lining Riding, our volunteers do so much more than help with lessons. They show up early, stay late, solve problems, lend a hand wherever needed, and care deeply about the health and happiness of our herd.
It's often said that it takes a village—and ours just happens to come with wheelbarrows. ❤️
Thank you to all of our volunteers who do the work that often goes unseen. Your dedication helps create a safe, welcoming place for our horses, riders, families, and community.

We are honored to share that Silver Lining Riding has been awarded $14,525 from the West Valley Mavericks Foundation to support the vision behind our growing HorsePower Program for Veterans & First Responders.
HorsePower was created to provide something many carry quietly but deeply need—purpose, connection, community, and space to breathe. Through horses, service projects, teamwork, and meaningful relationships, participants are reminded they do not have to carry everything alone.
These funds will help us continue building the experience surrounding that mission, including The Mavericks Porch—a gathering space designed for conversation, reflection, shared meals, and connection before and after programming.
Healing doesn’t always happen in big moments.
Sometimes it happens sitting beside someone who understands.
Sometimes it happens through serving together.
Sometimes it starts with simply having a place to belong.
To the West Valley Mavericks Foundation—thank you for believing in our veterans, first responders, and the power of community.
