There’s something special about a first day. 🤍

For some of our riders, this week meant a first day at SLR — a new horse, new people, new skills, and maybe even a few butterflies.

We’re thankful for the reminder that we all get opportunities to try something new, to be brave enough to be a beginner, and to discover what we’re capable of.

Because the things learned here — confidence, communication, patience, trust, and courage — have a way of staying with us long after we leave the barn. 🐴

Sometimes the biggest moments at Silver Lining don't look very big from the outside.
A rider remembers the pattern.
Gives the cue on their own.
Makes a decision without looking to their instructor first.
Sits a little taller.
Tries something that felt impossible a few weeks ago.
At Silver Lining Riding, the goal isn't simply to teach someone how to ride a horse.
It's creating a place where riders can practice independence, communication, problem solving, confidence and trust — with a horse beside them and a team cheering them on.
And then we get to watch those skills follow them beyond the arena.

And just like that… we’re back. 🤍🐴

Today was the first day of lessons for a brand-new ride year at Silver Lining Riding, and there’s something pretty special about seeing riders, volunteers, and horses back in the arena together.

New goals. New challenges. Familiar faces. New faces. And a whole lot of moments we can’t wait to watch unfold.

Here’s to another year of learning, growing, laughing, building confidence, and letting our incredible horses do what they do best.

Silver Lining Ridings has officially advanced to the public voting round of the Arizona Financial Foundation’s 2026 Local Causes Grant Program!
Now comes the part where it takes ALL of us.
From August 24 through September 13, our community has the opportunity to vote for Silver Lining Riding and help us compete for grant funding that could make a meaningful difference right here at the barn.
Your vote represents the riders who discover they can do hard things.
It represents veterans and first responders finding connection, trust and a place to exhale.

Macho’s first week at the barn is officially in the books, and this sweet boy is already stealing hearts. 🤍

He has been such a gentleman—calm, curious, and so smart. He’s taking in all the new sights, sounds, people, and routines like he’s been here much longer than a week.

We’re giving him plenty of time to settle in, learn the ropes, and show us who he is…and so far, we really like what we see.

Welcome to the Silver Lining family, Macho. We have a feeling you’re going to be pretty special around here. 🐴

Before a new ride year begins, we make sure our horses are ready, too. 🤍

Each summer, our team takes time to check and fit saddles for every horse in our program.

Because just like our clothes may fit differently from year to year, our horses’ bodies change too. They gain muscle, lose muscle, age, grow, and change depending on their workload — which means a saddle that fit well last year may not be the best fit today.

Proper saddle fit helps keep our horses comfortable, protects their backs, and allows them to move freely while doing the incredible work they do with our riders.

It’s one of those behind-the-scenes pieces of horse care that most people never see, but it matters.

Because taking care of our riders starts with taking really good care of the horses who carry them. 🐴🤍
