Signal Ridge Vineyard Mendocino Ridge Pinot Noir and Anderson Valley Sparkling Wine

Signal Ridge is the dream built by Roger Scommenga: a vineyard planted in the most challenging place in order to grow the most unique fruit to make the greatest wine possible and ultimately to enrich the lives of all those involved!

No bones about it: Signal Ridge is remote. The drive up is long and arduous. Fog frequently obscures the valley below. Bears and other wild animals abound.

But it is these exact conditions that make it, and the grapes grown there, so special.

Born beneath the Pacific, raised to the sky... and still shaped by the ocean today.

Many thanks to James Molesworth of W**e Spectator for the 93 Point rating on our 2024 Signal Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir.

“A stylish and distinctive version, with a perky note of wet conifer out front, followed by a hint of green tea before the bitter cherry and damson plum fruit steadily catches up. Its taut feel lends this cut and persistence through the finish, where an inner perfume waits to unfurl with some cellar time. Best from 2027 through 2033.-J.M.”

The Pacific wind is our silent partner.
It shapes the ridge, cools the vines,
and leaves its mark in every bottle.

We don’t host visits on the ridge.

The drive up is treacherous, the slopes are steep, and the bears that roam up here have a taste for our fruit. It’s a working vineyard in a wild place—better suited to vines than visitors.

That said, if you’d like to taste the fruits of farming the sky at 2,700 feet you can find our w**es at in Boonville.

Like the bears who roam the ridge—and crave our fruit—the vineyard has been sleeping all winter.

But the mountain is starting to stir...

Roger was recently up at the vineyard checking on things and taking pictures. Even in winter Signal Ridge is a stunning sight to see, of course… but out of all the captivating shots he captured, this one of an old wrench in the pump shed stood out the most. Because it is emblematic of what Signal Ridge has always really been about—

Hard work.

From taming the mountaintop by clearing brush to planting vines and running fence lines over 25 years ago. The daily maintenance and management that keeps it thriving. The toil and daring of hand harvesting grapes on those treacherously steep slopes. Long days and nights of trial and error in the w**ery coaxing the most out of the fruit. Even the arduous miles covered by the folks who help deliver it to your table.

But the ridge has other workers, too… worker bees pollinating cover crops and improving soil health, raptors policing pests, and then of course there’s the sun and wind and the rains—all at work, all the time.

This wrench isn’t just a tool; it’s a testament to the labor that goes into every glass of Signal Ridge. Taste the Altitude at signalridge.com.
