Just sitting back reflecting on my journey in the food industry. It's mindblowing that my vision for this business started almost 6 years ago back in Jan. 2021. When I was still in a full time Natl. Corporate Mgmt. position I began working on my business plan. In the meantime, I sold plates from home to family and friends, while juggling alot of responsibility at work and planning a big wedding. In April 2022, I started working on my start-up and I started delivering food to the whole valley and networking with the community to get my business name out there. In April 2023, the food truck was opened.
It was alot of work especially because I had been under a lot of stress and dealing with cronic anxiety but I pushed through and it was all worth it. The first year was the hardest but every year has gotten a little easier with experience. It can be a lot of work and can be draining but it doesnt really feel like "work" to me. Having my own business in the hospitality industry isn't just something that happened by accident, it's something that I have wanted to do since I started college in 2007; it is my dream. One of my all time favorite hobbies is to attend festivals and other events and my passion has always been to help people. In this industry, that is in the form of creating a joyful experience by serving delicious comfort food. What better way to to make a living than to make someone's day better?
From giving out free samples, serving from home, losing money, soliciting customers, little exposure, and aspiring to be like successful truckers
To becoming an ultimate foodie destination, having record attendance at major events, consistantly breaking sales records, growing a strong following, appearing on News Segments, Podcast Shows, Radio Shows, and Online Contests, and being nominated for several awards
SMAC N CHEEZE has gone from a unique idea to a local favorite. It has helped increase the popularity of mac n cheese and inspired several home cooks to create out of the box dishes in the Valley.
To think that all this has been done from an 8×10 box in less than 300 events is wild!
