This was a first for us! So grateful for a community of cow people. Our girl Betsy came up lame last week and then yesterday we noticed a major crack in her hoof. Trying to find a Veterinarian or a Trimmer for an immediate situation is REALLY hard! I was given Paul Gutzman's number and he was the only one who called me back after so many calls. He gets 10/10 stars 🌟 I'm so thankful πŸ™ Both of our girls got pedicures today. Betsy is all wrapped up, medicated, and resting.

Weaned kids ready for new homes!

The Boer buckling born 3/12/26, is a STUD! Great confirmation, thick and stout. He's also very sweet, loves scratches and has been started on halter training. He's ready to take your 4H or Commercial breeding program to a new level! Look at that coat - very thick and fluffy. He's gonna be big! He'll make some amazing babies! Weighs over 50lbs.

The buckling and doeling are Boer-Alpine. Born 3/11/26. Just weaned and growing steadily. Not totally comfortable with being held and touched, but they're young enough they could easily be worked with and trained. Could be used for meat, breeding, or milk. Great shrub trimmers too!

Owning and breeding goats definitely has its rewards but can come with so many challenges. 🐐

First of all, I absolutely LOVE goat kids, especially during their curiosity phase. πŸ˜‚

And my current mama goats are just sweet and simple. πŸ₯°

But today, I spent 5 hours cleaning and disinfecting stalls, washing & medicating goats and then putting them into quarantine. We've been fighting with Coccidiosis, and I'm so tired of it! I'm grateful it's not anything worse but I'm freaking exhausted. 😩

I think after today we're going to see a light at the end of the tunnel, but dang these parasites! 😑

This is such a common problem in goats, it's not ever 100% preventable and if you catch it soon enough and treat immediately, they aren't likely to get worse. I'm so grateful to our Veterinarian, who knows us well, and is quick to provide whatever I need to get my herd back in good health. 🩺

We also have a great goat community that is willing to help whenever needed. 🀠

We're expanding our Boer herd in the next year, I'm excited but also apprehensive due to the known illnesses that can transmit quickly. I will just need to stay on top of everything!

I'm also getting rid of my chickens 😭 I don't want to keep them penned up, so they free range, but they also can bring it things to the goats that continue to add to the sickness. So off to another local farm they go! I'm a little sad.

Pray for us πŸ™πŸ€ͺ

I hardly ever get pictures of me in my element... this is one of my many happy places. They might chew on my hair, my shirt, my fingers, jump all over my lap and totally invade my personal space, but I would do it all over again. The love and affection of a goat is so sweet πŸ₯° plus, they get head scratches, which they completely soak up every minute! Love these boys to bits!

This dog LIVES for fetch... a stick, a toy, a rock... lol, he'll basically chase down anything and bring it back. Maybe I should teach him to collect chicken eggs and bring beer πŸ˜‚
