If some of you were wondering, what’s the difference between what we initially wanted to build vs what we are planning now?

Before, we were planning to build a kitchen from the ground up along with our existing meat market kitchen which allows us to make lechon belly rolls, chicken inasal packs and sliced pork belly. Unfortunately, we will stop the meat cutting and preparing services to pursue this venture which we’ve deemed a fair trade. We’ve started the building phase with electrical work and most of the plumbing (sadly the plumbing work is deemed a loss). This is where our initial funds were spent.

Now, we are planning to convert that existing kitchen into a deli kitchen which will allow us to make Filipino meryenda (small meals) such as halo halo, all the iced desserts, possibly tocilogs, longsilogs, arroz caldo, soups, musubis and small baked goods. While the menu is still pending for approval depending on capacities and guidelines they will have us adhere to, we’re hoping for a smooth kitchen conversion. 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

It takes a lot for us to swallow our pride and reach out but we're doing it because we believe in the kindness of this community, our community. We know times are incredibly tight and we see you struggling right alongside us. Lately, our little store has felt quieter than ever.

We had high hopes for a big summer push to fund a brand-new kitchen for our Meryenda Cafe but we've had to adapt. Instead of building from the ground up, we're pouring our hearts into converting our current meat market kitchen into the cozy, welcoming deli kitchen we've always pictured.

We're so close but we can't quite make it alone. So we're asking for your help whether it's a donation, a share or simply telling a friend about us, any bit of help fills our hearts with gratitude.
