My sister and I have beautiful cream legbars from Featherbabyfarm and her pullet laid her first egg today! Now I’m off to inspect my nesting boxes and give mine a pep talk. 😆

My coop desperately needed a refresh after all the triple digit weather. I use a combination of shavings and zeolite with DE and lime sprinkled strategically in certain areas. I also love wood pellets especially during the winter. I’ve never used h**p just because a bag here is $41.99 and I can’t stomach the $$$ it would be to deep litter a 400+ sq ft coop. But curious for those who use h**p if you think the odor control is better?

The fresh shavings are SO satisfying!

I’ve used a million zip ties but Chicken Hill zbands are the most durable and stay on the best IMO. You can get packs on amazon but their website has 20 colors to choose from in numbers 1-300 so it’s easy to identify by breed/line/trait or whatever else you track!

Meet the 15 chicks that hatched from the speckled and bloomy Simply Feathered Acres olive eggers dozen! We have Welsummer crosses, Silverudd crosses, and Multigenerational olives including 4 fibro babies. 😍This is the most beautiful variety of chicks I’ve ever seen in a dozen. My very dark plumage olive egger pen will be happy to see them coming! 😆

Any tips to help Bubbles find her way back to the coop? Bubbles panics at dusk and squeezes herself into a small crevice or inside a bush instead of following the rest of the flock. I’ve tried to guide her in for weeks but she still can’t manage without me. Any advice? 🫧
