Just a few reminders on handling your fresh, raw goat milk:
ā¢ When picking up your milk, whether itās from here at the farm, or at one of our store locations, plan ahead for travel time! I always recommend bringing a cooler or insulated bag to transport your milk. Adding ice or ice packs is ideal! Sticking your milk straight into a warm cooler/bag isnāt going to accomplish much in keeping your milk cold!
ā¢ Once youāve gotten home with your milk, put it straight into your refrigerator! Preferably not in the door, this area stays several degrees warmer than the main shelves of the refrigerator. If you donāt believe me, test it for yourself! Thermometers are not expensive and we have them in all of our refrigerators. Placing your milk in the back of the fridge will give you the best chance of keeping your milk the coldest.
ā¢ COLD COLD COLD is the name of the game! Your milk should be stored below 40 degrees fahrenheit. One of our refrigerators runs around 34, and the other around 38.
