We’re a certified organic farm in Romeo, Michigan, growing top-quality produce and seasonal flowers. Lisa and Matt Jaroch founded Cold Frame Farm in 2012.

Lisa left a successful career as a landscape architect to pursue her dream of running an organic farm. She and Matt turned a 27-acre patch of land in Romeo, Michigan into a thriving farm, producing a wide variety of nutrient-dense produce for restaurants and members of the local community. We’re committed to regenerative farming practices that restore the landscape and foster a sustainable way of

living. But most importantly, we work to contribute to the health and happiness of our neighbors and friends. We are proud to say we use no GMOs, herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.

Happy Thursday!!

The crew has been bringing in loads of garlic scapes recently!

Fun fact: all hardneck varieties of garlic will put out a tender, garlicky shoot called a ‘Scape’. We harvest our scapes, 1. Because they are delicious, and 2. to direct the energy back into the bulbs to help them get as big as possible

There are so many fun ways to use scapes including in pesto, seasoned salt, compound butters, dips, dressings, aiolis, pickled and so much more. If you’d like to give scapes a try, make sure to stop by the farm store this weekend and pick some up! You will not be disappointed

The farm store will be open this weekend Friday & Saturday from 10am-3pm. We can’t wait to see you ☺️

Our hoop houses are filling up fast as the tomato plants have exploded with growth! 🍅⁣
⁣
The crew has been trellising up the tomatoes so they can continue to climb to the ceiling and produce in the many months to come. ⁣
⁣
Fun fact: the tomatoes we grow in the hoops are indeterminate varieties! These are vining varieties that will continue to grow throughout the entire season up until the first frost. Because indeterminate tomatoes can grow to towering heights of 10+ feet, we make sure to give them the strong support they need by trellising them. ⁣

Hooray for cucumbers!!! 🥒 The plants have really been loving this heat and have recently accelerated with growth. What a treat to have our cucumbers ready for harvesting so soon. If you’d like some, make sure to swing by the farm store this weekend and grab them while you can; they will go fast! ⁣

We will have Katrina (small /snacking) and Margarita (unique, lime green flesh/ lemony flavor) varieties available this weekend. ⁣

We will also have spinach, romaine, and many other delicious options.

The crew is ahead of schedule for planting our summer crops, and we are thrilled about that! Tomatoes, peppers, green beans, and summer squash are all tucked into their new homes and enjoying the sunshine, as are we! ☀️⁣

We also met a new friend, who was rescued from one of the hoops 🦋 What should we name it? Ps. It is flying free, living it’s best life, we did not keep her. ⁣
