We’re a certified organic farm in Romeo, Michigan, growing top-quality produce and seasonal flowers. Lisa and Matt Jaroch founded Cold Frame Farm in 2012.

Lisa left a successful career as a landscape architect to pursue her dream of running an organic farm. She and Matt turned a 27-acre patch of land in Romeo, Michigan into a thriving farm, producing a wide variety of nutrient-dense produce for restaurants and members of the local community. We’re committed to regenerative farming practices that restore the landscape and foster a sustainable way of living. But most importantly, we work to contribute to the health and happiness of our neighbors and friends. We are proud to say we use no GMOs, herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.

Winter squash, chard, kale, and beautiful flowers 🌸

Contrary to what some believe, winter squash doesn’t grow in the winter, but in the summer/ fall and is called winter squash because it is something that can be stored over winter. It will sustain you through the cold months and it is oh, so cozy!

What a beautiful day here on the farm!! 🌤️ We have really been loving the cooler fall weather 🍁

At the same time the old crops are coming out, new ones are going in! We spent today hoeing the newly seeded items in the hoops and ripping the front field! Do you like our technique to take the fabric up? 😃

We have loads of delicious produce coming in this week! Summer may be gone, but our summer produce is not. We still have lots of tomatoes and peppers. On top of that, our fall crops are coming in swimmingly. Check out these beautiful winter squashes and Famosa (savoy) cabbages!! 😃😍

Happy Monday! 🌾

As the season slowly transitions to fall, so do our hoops! As you can see we are prepping the beds to direct seed and transplant fall/winter crops!! This includes a number of things from weeding& ripping old plants, to broad forking, clawing, and what we call “zen-raking”. All of these steps help to gently yet deeply aerate the soil, break up compact clumps, and level the soil to give the plants the best shot at thriving. Out with the old, in with the new. ✨

Summer is coming to a close. That means the bouquets are slowly transforming into fall blooms, and we are welcoming lots of brassicas and winter squash! Yum yum yumm! 😋

New this week is the Puntoverde Cauliflower. It is the most reliable, all-season Romanesco featuring a stunning spiraling pattern.

Also new this week is Sunshine Kabocha, Buttercup, and Honeynut Butternut Squash varieties. If you have never tried any of these new items, you sure are in for a treat! These squashes are unique in there own ways and all are sweet and have a nutty profile. They will not disappoint!

The farm store will be open Friday and Saturday from 10am-3pm. Get some fresh produce from us and swing over to 5 Loaves Bakery for a sweet treat & loaf of bread!

Our crew has been bringing in loads of winter squash today! Delicata and Angel hair spaghetti squash are the first to come in and will be available this week in the store.

Honey Boat Delicata: one of the sweetest squash varieties out there! Delicious roasted and has a thin edible skin

Angel Hair Spaghetti: personal sized spaghetti squash with a sweet, nutty flavor. Excellent pasta alternative!
