Stock split last night. I was a little worried about this first time momma when I went to bed but she ended up doing a good job with 11 healthy pigs. The next 3-4 days it’s a bit easy for her to lay on on so hopefully she is a quick learner and raises them all

With this storm looking like it’s going to disrupt quite a bit, I will extend the offer that I have one full hook up site (water, sewer and 30 amp power) that will accommodate a 30 ft trailer on a gravel pad. I also have 2 stables if anybody is needing to escape the path of the storm with horses. There is also room to accommodate approximately 3-4 more campers or trailers without the hook ups on a flat gravel lot. I have generators on standby to keep water going without electricity if it gets bad here. We also have a very clean creek on the property.

My rat killers at work this morning. It’s hard to have hogs and not have some rats but Gus and Woodrow keep them in check.

It’s still 75 and air is so sticky humid too at 2:30 in the morning. In this weather I go nocturnal to do what outside work I need to. High’s predicted for the next 10 days 89-97. Garden finally got some rain but it really looks like it was too late and goodness at the heat damage. It sure has made the weeds grow though.

Just got out hog back from being processed yesterday. We are well stocked on sausage. Hot, mild plus and mild.

Something big happened today. This will be our U-Pick high tunnel. Still plenty to do but thankful it’s covered now. We will be updating as things materialize. Lucked up on this high tunnel frame on marketplace. The guy that inherited the land it was on had no use for it. I called up some friends and they took it down for me and put the frame back up in 3 days time. We got started early and got the cover on it before the wind got up this morning. I am so amazed at how many good things keep happening. I can say I am probably the happiest in life I ever have been. Cancer gut punched me but throughout the battle so many people kept saying study Jobe. The blessings just keep coming and Lord am I so thankful. It just doesn’t seem real sometimes.

Bare root and almost nothing green when we planted them Saturday. They are getting cranked up.

They don’t teach wrenches and ratchets in school anymore but we do. It’s a little harder for me to show a left handed gal how to do it but I think she has got it

Educational trip today for the girls. Stopped at Dairio for lunch, got some Howling Cow ice cream for a snack and went to the poultry unit at NCSU to visit and discuss some new business opportunities with them to help kickstart our farm. It’s great for the girls to meet and get to know some of the contacts I have made down there during and since graduation. We picked up broiler chicks while we were there too. Got to share some places and good times I had with the girls today.
