Sam, macaroni shells and cheese.
With Ray home recuperating from back surgery and having to fight with him to follow directions, I have been very appreciative of the prepared meals. Last night was no exception. Marilee made pork loin chops with shells and cheese and James delivered it to us hot and ready to eat.

The second the lid came off of the containers and Sam smelled the food. the screaming began. Sam did not bother to ask for a bite. He wanted his pasta NOW!!! Of course, he was fed first!!
Dinner was very good!! Thank you so much for making dinner. Please like, share and follow. 🦜πŸ₯˜πŸ¦œπŸ₯˜πŸ¦œ Marilee Saucedo

Star and the wasps. Percheron Star was innocently eating her breakfast when she suddenly took off running around her paddock area. Her pasture mate Rebel started running too but after a couple of laps, went back to his breakfast. Star kept on running. Being a Percheron, they don’t have that much exuberance to keep going that way so James and I walked up to see what was going on and saw wasps chasing her. James opened a gate to a lower pasture so he could spray her with the hose, killing several wasps. Then Star nonchalantly went back to her breakfast. James saved the day!! Sam and scalloped potatoes and ham.
Ray came home from the hospital yesterday after having back surgery on 8/26. After bland hospital food, Ray was more than ready for a home cooked meal. Apparently Sam agreed. I started warming up scalloped potatoes and ham for Ray knowing Sam would want some. I just didn’t realize how exuberant he would be about it. After one polite β€œCan I have a bite?”, the ear splitting screams began. I gave Sam a chicken bone but that was an incredibly poor substitute, in his opinion.

Instead of setting Sam up with food on his dinner stand I just put a serving in his dish. Anything to get the screaming stopped. It was a hit and the chicken bone got pitched. Marjie’s cooking satisfied all of us and then some. Both Sam AND Ray liked it so well, they requested seconds. Thank you Marjie for making that and the chicken noodle soup. It is very much appreciated!! Please like, share and follow. 🦜🦜🦜🦜 Marjie Hicks

My poor neglected cats!
These are the poor, neglected, underfed cats who awakened me at 5:30 this morning because their bowl was empty. Yes. I forgot to check their bowl before I went to bed. Snoopy sang the song of his people, while Bodie threw himself against the door, and Shelby rattled the door with her little hand. It was quite pathetic! The poor dears barely had the energy to make it to their food bowl once I filled it. Had this not happened, I would not have seen the beautiful sunrise starring the full moon. Less than 5 minutes following the video the moon had disappeared behind the trees. Please like, share and follow. πŸˆπŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ™€πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸˆ

Morning sunrise with full moon - 8/28/2026

I was awakened at 5:30 this morning by 3 starving cats. Someone (me) had forgotten to top off their food dish before going to bed. I discovered the error of my ways, and knew the noise would not stop until I dragged myself out of bed and made it all right.

I made a cup of coffee and as I sat down to enjoy it, looked out my front room window and saw the moon perfectly framed in the window so I rushed outside and took video. I guess the cats got me up for more than one reason. Please like, share and follow. πŸŒ•πŸŒ•πŸŒ•πŸŒ•

Mutual Grooming
Horses are photoperiodic. Now is the time of year we see them shedding their summer coats and growing their winter ones. Just like spring, no amount of brushing removes all the hair. Sugar, the caramel coated mini, and Smokey, the grey, found itchy spots on each other and began working on their respective itchy spots, coming away with a mouthful of hair, and more hair stuck in their teeth. The grooming went on for at least 5 minutes. Please like, share and follow. 🐴🐴🐴🐴 Kathy Mathena

Stop laughing!! It’s Not Funny!!!
After being scared out of my wits by that first spider, I go downstairs and there is one in the hallway. Then I go into my dog bathing room and find another one in a trash can. I hauled it out so Ray can put both of them outside. He gave them a stern lecture about coming back inside. So far it has worked. Ugh!! Where is your portable flame thrower when you need one?? Laugh at me all you want!!! NO, I don’t do spiders!!!
As I was about to take a video of the wasps that found their way into one of my hummingbird feeders after bragging to my neighbor Shannon, how I have no wasps in my hummingbird feeders, this spider climbed over the center divider of my sink from the left side to the right side, scaring the crap out me. I screamed for Ray and told him to do something about it which did not include throwing it on me like he did the last time there was a HUGE spider in the house. Yes, I will wrestle 1800 lbs. horses and not back down, carry 50 lbs. bags of feed, tech on surgeries for the vet, handle bloody emergencies calmly, but I WILL NOT DO SPIDERS!!! I coexist with them outside. Inside is a different story!!! Ray tried to make me feel guilty by naming him Chuck and asking me what he was going to tell his family. β€œDead” works for me!!! My stomach is still tight!! Yuck!! No thanks!! Please like, share and follow. πŸ•·οΈπŸ•·οΈπŸ•·οΈπŸ•·οΈπŸ•·οΈ

Liberty work with a new horse
Meet Guy. He belongs to former clients who toook lessons with him a few years ago. Today was his first day of a 30 day trial with my lesson student who was the 2024 Junior Reserve World Champion in Horse Agility. Guy had competed in horse agility with another student, so it didn’t take long for him to remember his job and step up into it. All of this was accomplished on the first day, in the first 15 minutes of working with him. I think Ella and Guy are going to be a great match!! Please like, share and follow. 🐴❀️🐴❀️🐴 Angie Hemenway

A silver lining to a dark cloud
Sometimes it takes a family tragedy to bring us together. My nephew, his girlfriend and her children made it to the ranch for the first time. I hope it isn’t the last time. They visited with Smokey, Sugar and Nutmeg. It was good to see Cameron again and meet Julie Rose Wisniewski and her son Lawson, and daughter Lea. Don’t be strangers!! 🐴❀️🐴❀️🐴
