UNDERSTAND?
When I got into floristry I never used floral foam because it didn’t feel like it went with the vibe of our farm fresh flowers. As I did more and more research I realized how much extra waste can be created in the floral industry and as our events got bigger and bigger I have found creative ways to avoid it all together. A few things we love and depend on in almost every build are:

Chicken wire- the work horse of the floral installation! This is used to help shape and support all the stems.

Oshun pouches- we LOVE these pouches that absorb water and are fully compostable! They are amazing and check them out at

Cemetery arrangement cups- these are awesome! They are green so they melt into the background, hold a lot of water, and are reusable! They also have a spike you can add to the bottom if they need extra support of to go into the ground.

What are some of your favorite things that you use to make foam free floristry easier?

TREE INSTALLATION!!!
Today we did a flower foam free tree install for a wedding! Had so much fun creating this beautiful backdrop for the ceremony incorporating a special family tree!

EASY YOU SAY…..
Yes, putting flowers in a vase of water is technically easy. What people never think about is the time, prep, expertise, experience, and stress that comes with doing wedding flowers. If you want them to look like they were professionally done, don’t expect 5 inexperienced bridesmaids who are slightly tipsy after the rehearsal dinner to throw together 25 centerpieces in 2 hours. Once they are done where are you going to keep them cool? When you work with a professional florist you not only get a PROFESSIONAL, you get all their equipment and experience. Yes, it is technically cheaper to do your own wedding flowers, but you always get what you pay for and what you make back in money you add in stress and head aches! Trust the professionals!

BRITTANY WILL HELP ME!
Finding flower farmer floristry as a second career was an interesting choice. Starting a physically demanding job that has crazy hours and requires manual labor in your mid 30’s isn’t for everyone! I am so happy I have found this at this point in my life. It has been such an adventure learning new skills, being creative, and getting back to my roots after all the other life experiences I have had! Over the past 10 years I have learned and grown so much and it’s only the beginning!

LET ME GO!!!
The garden is in full swing and needs all the attention and all I want to do is go into the cool studio and create with the beautiful flowers!!

OH LOOK A BIRD!!
Being a flower farmer florist I am always in my feet and moving around. When I have to sit down and concentrate on paperwork things get a little dicey! At least I’m fun! Thank goodness I have Kate to help make sure I sit and do my work!
