It is sad that people act like this. We have wonderful neighbors normally.

Reminder that some of our vendors operate as per the Maryland Cottage Food Regulations (e.g. bake from home). All hot food providers have a commercial license.

Cheryl's Kitchen started because she disliked the crazy shopping routine that goes on at Christmas time. She decided to stay home and make and send baked goods to friends and family. The little blue tins were filled with cake and cookies, and frosted nuts in the middle. After getting encouragement from folks that the nuts should be sold, she finally started the business. Cheryl has been vending at Koiner Farm for the past 5 years. The "nutty lady" is a neighborhood favorite!

CHARLES KOINER AWARD at the Montgomery County Fair in August.

It took a long time to get this going but this year there will be a $20 for a 1st prize vegetable to be determined later.

The fair book has already gone to press so it will appear in the online fair book.

The Farm&Garden always features Charlie's pictures at the Fair so it only makes sense to have an Award.

FREE TOMATO PLANTS: I have some leftover and Wrights gave me preserving tomato plants to give away. They need staking.

The New Honey has arrived. They are more expensive at $15 but slightly bigger, bottled in glass and there are 3 varieties to choose from - light, medium and dark....depending upon what the bees ate.

The light is from Black Locust or Acacia. The others are from flowers.

EASY CHRISTMAS GIFTS:

For a great little gift for only $15, I have a Christmas bag with honey, mint tea from Germany, a lemon (because this combination makes my favorite tea) plus a few chocolates.

At last Thursdays event, someone stole all of my vases for flowers. Please bring them back. People are always selling from me and not CKC - guess I have better stuff. I did have some inside to use today.

When I return, Henry at Danco on Gist Ave is putting in a security system for me -- the top floor is missing 2 boxes with items worth 10s of thousands of $. Of course, I was not going to sell the items but donate them.

I am picking flowers now. Lots of Dahlias which are beautiful this time of year. This is the last market.

THE FARMSTAND AT KOINER FARM - CONCERT THURSDAY

For our final 3rd Thursday & market of 2025 we will have a quintessential Silver Spring mix of Balkan music, Ethiopian food & local crafts!

• Timber Pizza (15% of the Koiner special pizza will go to support CKC Farming, and will be topped with farm Kale)

• 5-6pm Orfeia Vocal Ensemble - Balkan music with special guests from the audience for two songs!
• 6-7pm Morning Watch - Americana rock

• PERSIMMONS – they do not ripen on the tree but they are getting close to ripening when picked

MESSAGE: I will be leaving for Europe on October 23. I will have boxes of Persimmons on the front porch and you can buy them or HONEY from Bill.
He does not hear well so I will put the school bell on the chair by the door. Ring it loudly. There will be a black Ford parked in front of the house when he is home or you can leave money in the brown pot on the porch.
After I have picked what I will be selling (front porch), a Vietnamese Non-Profit will pick the rest of the persimmons. They will be given out for free to the Asian community who have lost their Federal jobs.

• For our neighbors who are federal workers laid-off or furloughed, CKC is offering our produce at half-price until your work (and salaries) are reinstated.
