Hello! Who could use some adorable calf pictures?? Here ya go! Extra pictures of Daffodil because she’s the one who lets me get the most up close time.

I have NO idea how I’m going to pick which heifer(s) to keep from this year.

Guess who we saw nursing off of Theresa tonight?! If you guessed Daffodil you’d be right! Yay! We will still continue bottle feeding her, but thrilled that she’s getting some supplemental milk.

Also, as of now Oreo and Cici are both pending their new homes! So excited for their futures.

We will post later this summer once we decide which of this year’s heifers might be available for purchase. đŸ„°

For your consideration: Cici is a 2025 heifer. She is gorgeous, and sweet, and I would like to keep her BUT she’s too closely related to our bulls so I’m going to offer her to a good breeding home only. Shes something like 25% mini belted Galloway, 60% + American Aberdeen (Lowline), 15% “other” (Angus etc)

Please send us a message if you’re interested and want to come meet her, or have any questions.

For your consideration:

Oreo - 5 year old cow who has had 3 calves. She is 50% American Aberdeen (Lowline) and 50% miniature belted Galloway. Her mom (Autumn) was pregnant with her when we got her so I’ve never seen her sire. She is cute and personality plus. Always runs in for cow cubes from the pasture 😂 2 of her 3 calves have had a full or partial white belt. She does not carry the dilute gene.

She isn’t feeding her calf from this year, but I firmly believe that if her 2025 heifer had been separated for calving, this wouldn’t have been a problem. She isn’t being mean to it, just won’t let it nurse and is treating the 2025 heifer as a baby. We just don’t have the infrastructure to separate the yearling heifers off for calving right now.

Please let me know if you’re interested in her or have any questions.

We are very much looking forward to seeing what kind of momma Athena is. She is a heifer we kept from last year, and she is sweet as can be. Very inquisitive and not super shy. She’s been hanging out with Daffodil, which we really appreciate.

This summer we will put her in the pasture behind the house with our little bull Valentino. I think they’ll be a good match.

The herd is doing well (Yes, including bottle baby Daffodil), and spring is here!

We got a skiff of snow on Friday, along with freezing temps (I think we got down to 20-25?). Thankful for the moisture, but we sure could use some more. The pasture is way too brown!

Hay is getting scarce and with the âŹ†ïžgas prices âŹ‡ïžmoisture means bad things for hay availability / prices for this winter. Might be đŸ›» it in 😬 We need something like 80 round bales to go from Sept to June.

I forgot to give a huge shoutout to Whispering Winds Homestead for letting us borrow their emergency bottle calf supplies with replacement colostrum and bottles and ni***es so we could get some nutrition into Daffodil asap.

This life is not always rainbows and sunshine, but with awesome friends it is not as difficult as it could be when we get in a pinch.

Thanks again đŸ„°
