Good morning! You should have heard the chaos! I failed to record it (I was dealing with said chaos). But there was a cacophony of kids cranky cries this morning while they “patiently” waiting for moms to be released.

Suffice it to say, it was worth it! Between Poppy, Allie, and Jyn, there was a gallon of milk!! 🥛 you can see some of it below as well as a pic of the happy porcine (in the comments).

Good evening. This is the calm before the first overnight separation for milking the mamas tomorrow morning. Turn up the sound to hear the background evening bird songs-mockingbirds, western kingbird, meadowlark, phoebe, house finch and more. So peaceful.

The Rancher always has some project to work on. Today it's hydraulic work for one of the tractors. His hired hand is always happy to help him.

SPRING CLEANING! It takes longer these days than it would’ve years ago. But it still must be done, even if it’s in stages. Today was a good start on the main barn where the chickens and goats hang out. Take a CLOSE look at the dirt on my mask. Luckily, I didn’t inhale all of that gunk.
NOTE: this is also why farmers and ranchers don’t need to go to a gym. I sweat about a gallon this morning. 😓
But these cuties are worth it.

Yesterday, we and Wild Sage Fields got 6 of our doelings disbudded. They’re all finished for the season-except for one due the end of the month at WSFs. THANK YOU again Harmony Homestead for your expertise and care of this year babies!

Time for an MLC Ranch update: it’s almost time to move the cows and calves to their summer pasture. Before we can do that, the Rancher and his cow ranching parter needed to get water to the pasture. Hauling daily water for 40+ large, thirsty animals is quite a chore.
This is a reminder that ranching/homesteading isn’t all fun and cute babies.
