Update on Silver Fox kit. I keep forgetting to do an update lol. We had two does due to have kits a couple days after I rescued these kits (bottle feeding rabbits only have about a 10% survival rate and less the younger they are and higher the older they are). Well our awesome momma rabbit Louis who I planned to have her foster these kits had 11 kits again!! And my other doe we waited and waited and nothing, she didn't take 😭😭 I bottled raised these kits for about a week, and they started dying, I was down to 4 😭😭 So I decided to just put them in with Louis cause they'd have a better chance and bottled feed the kits that needed it. Out of the Silver Fox's 3 survived! All bucks! haha But unfortunately we lost a bunch of Louis kits in the process 😭 out of that whole mess of 15 kits only 6 survived. They are weaned and doing great! 😁 Im pretty sure more would have lived, except Silver Fox's are twice the size of Rex's, and I'm sure they consume twice as much as a Rex kit. Louis has raised 11 kits before successfully, so pretty sure that why, she just couldn't keep up with the demand and kits don't do well being supplemented by formula. This is why we always breed two does around the same time, so if one has a large litter you can swap kits around if needed, but unfortunately this time it didn't work out that way. Even though it sucked losing so many kits, we are super excited some of the Silver Fox's lived and we got a nice Big Rex doe that we will keep as well. 😁
