Weather & Harbor Conditions Update: March 10, 2026.
As the Homer Winter King Salmon Tournament approaches, the tournament committee is closely monitoring weather forecasts and the harbor ice situation for the weekend of March 21. Our goal is to ensure a safe and fair experience for all participating anglers.
At this time, ice conditions in the harbor remain a concern. If we are unable to utilize the slips around the harbor for overnight mooring, it could create an unsafe situation around the boat launch area on tournament day due to increased congestion and limited staging space.
The weather over the next couple of days should provide a clearer picture of whether the harbor ice is beginning to move out or expand. If conditions do not improve, the committee will consider delaying the tournament by one week in the interest of safety.
The tournament committee will meet again on Friday morning, March 13, to re-evaluate the situation. We will issue an updated statement that morning and will make every effort to give participants as much advance notice as possible should any changes be necessary.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these conditions. The safety of our anglers and participants remains our highest priority.
Updated information will be sent via email to registered and past tournament anglers.
