Will you give your opinion?
We’ve been taking an observation hive to events lately and want to do something fun as a giveaway when people spot the queen. Sometimes they work pretty hard to find her. Which of these sticker options should we print to give as a prize? Please comment below.

Or should we do something entirely different, like “I spotted the Queen!”

We had a great time at the Utah Arts Festival in SLC this year. Thanks to everyone who came and supported our booth. Hope you got to taste some fresh raw honey and our fun rhubarb and jalapeño honey lemonades.

Observation hive at the Utah Arts Festival
To create an observation hive, we take one frame of bees on their comb from a full-size, active colony, and slide it between the panes of glass, then screw the lid on tight. People can learn about and observe bees at work without the risk of getting stung. We think this helps people appreciate these essential pollinators. That evening, we return the frame to its hive.

This observation hive was Stan’s grandpa’s, so it’s a bit of family legacy too. (He’s a 4th generation beekeeper, and our kids are 5th generation, so we are keeping the tradition alive and well.)

Come see a super fun musical play today and Monday. It’s going to be epic. Fun for the whole family!

This is the culmination of a 2-week intensive theater camp. You are not going to believe that they pulled of this entire play in 2 weeks. It is directed by Amanda Hansen at Sanpete Theater Company, with musical direction from Doug Knapp and Bryan Sullivan of Manti High.

(For us, it’s a family event. I serve on the board and as artistic director, Clara is a singer/villager, Elizabeth is dancing, and Stan helps build stuff.)

Nucleus colony pickup adventures tonight:
🐍 Rattle snake under the truck
💨 Tons of wind and rain
🌧️ Signs showing how to get to the location blew away
🐝 Used tarps and umbrellas to protect the bees as they inspected and transferred colonies

PS Stan moved the snake away from the pickup to keep both the people and the snake safe. Diamond back rattle snakes are a protected species in Utah, and we respect them. Don’t try this at home. 😉
