BREAKFAST FOR DINNER!! If you ask me what our go to busy night dinner is, I will almost always say breakfast for dinner. Sometimes it looks like pancakes and bacon, other times it’s a hearty fried egg and sausage dinner with chili beans and toast. That’s what we are enjoying tonight after a very long day of w**d whacking, digging dirt, washing eggs and playing in today’s beautiful sunshine! Fall harvest dinner! Yum! Carrot, pepper, potato, eggplant, herbs from our garden, sausage and of course Lucky Fields chicken thighs! Drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice, baked for an hour and served over quinoa. This warms my tummy and my soul on these chilly days.

This our last batch of birds for the season! They’ll be heading off to freezer camp next week and will be all ready for market on Saturday! We have 12 extra large chickens for sale and will have them ready for the fall soup season!

Kitchen garden soup! A few veggies from the garden, a package of Vermont Salumi Italian sausage, some Hurricane Flats beans and some homemade chicken bone broth. This delicious and nutritious meal filled us up and made us all feel so nourished after a wild week of honestly eating pretty poorly. thanks mary arnold for this beautiful bowl. It really makes so many of our meals!

This is a particularly crazy week for us. We processed 267 birds yesterday (thank you Em and the Honey Field Farm crew for coming down to do such amazing work!) today Bob and I will be doing our normal chores and cutting and packaging all of those birds. Tonight we will catch 320 more birds and bring them to the USDA processor and I won’t be home until Wednesday night. It’s a little wild and totally worth it! But…. We are still parents and have the coolest kid ever so sometimes you just need to temper the insanity with a To Do list that looks a bit like this. see you this afternoon Sugar Bob’s Finest Kind | Vermont Maple Syrup

Come by the Honey Field Farm Monday mini market to hear all about this delicious dish! Waterless chicken soup! Yum! Bob will be there with all of our chicken and eggs. He’ll also have a signup for fresh chicken pickup next weekend at our farm! Sunday and Monday.
