The Budweiser Clydesdales became a holiday icon long before their famous Christmas commercials!

When Prohibition ended in 1933, August A. Busch Jr. surprised his father with a six-horse Clydesdale hitch to celebrate. That team delivered the very first case of post-Prohibition Budweiser straight to the White House, marking the historic moment beer was officially back in America.

Anheuser-Busch even held national “Beer Is Back” celebrations—steam whistles sounded at midnight across major cities and the Clydesdales toured places like New York and Washington, D.C., drawing massive crowds.

And years later, Budweiser honored the moment again with its “1933 Repeal Reserve” Amber Lager, brewed from a pre-Prohibition recipe.

A tradition born in celebration… now a staple of the holidays. 🎄🍻🐴
