They work hard, laugh hard, and are a real pleasure for me to spend time around. It is everyone here pulling together on thier own respective jobs that makes it possible for the chuck roast and breakfast sausage to be sitting there in your freezer; and those eggs on the shelf in your fridge. Polyface is indeed the "farm of many faces."

Today, I would like for you to get to know some of our newest additions to the team: our Polyface Summer Stewards of 2026!

Every year we have a small group of folks from around the United States that come to Virginia to spend 5 months with us on the farm, getting a top-notch, hands-on education in regenerative farming.

It's a Polyface masterclass.

What do the folks who are in the Stewardship Program actually think of life on Polyface farm?

Have you ever wondered?

I rounded up two of them for a quick interview on the blog today, so they could tell you in thier own words!

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country.

Their sacrifice made possible the freedoms we enjoy every day—including the freedom to work the land, raise our families, and build a life rooted in purpose and stewardship.

At SGF, we know many farm families carry deep military traditions across generations. Today we honor those who never made it home, and we remember the cost of the liberties too often taken for granted.

As you spend time with family, gather around the table, or walk your pastures today, we hope you’ll take a quiet moment to remember those who paid the ultimate price.

We remember.
We honor.
We are grateful.

Yesterday was a sad day for me.  My dear friend and fellow principled American, Congressman Thomas Massie from Kentucky, lost the Republican primary for his seat.  It is now on record as the most…

"We are buzzing with activity, as is usual in this season!

Our 2026 stewards have joined us for what promises to be an unforgettable Summer at Polyface of education, hard work, laughter, and community around the evening meal table and on the job. There is a special bond that forms when you work shoulder-to-shoulder with someone through sweaty days of meaningful labor that is seldom found elsewhere. We are delighted to have them join us here on our team for this season!

Earlier today, walking around the farm, I spotted wild blackberries, red clover, dandelions, and daises in full bloom. The grass is shooting up rich and thick. And it looks inviting enough to want to taste with the array of diverse plants. It not only nourishes our cattle, pigs, rabbits, turkeys, and chickens. I have also noticed (not surprisingly!) that the wildlife in the area is often found slipping into the fields and grazing our farm. And those deer that I have seen around the farm look exceptionally healthy, well-fed, and nourished too.

Springtime lays the groundwork preparation for Summer.

Not only for the summertime abundance of the animals; but also for our Summer events, where we love to welcome you onto the farm to spend time with us in the presence of some of the greatest Doctors, Farmers, Authors, Scientists, and Nutritionists from around the world, and absorb their wisdom while having a wonderful time being together on the land.

We have quite the line-up of events this year, and in today's blog post Joel runs through the highlights!

So, while you are planning your fun day trips and family vacations, don't miss out on browsing through the line-up that is available. Tickets sell fast!

I hope you all are relishing this first week of May too!

Blessings,
Annie"
