Join us for Magic: The Gathering Night at Smog City Torrance, hosted by Alex Cook with local game shop Lost Planet Games. Due to popular demand, this now happens on the last Thursday of every month.

Lost Planet will have card packs available for purchase, plus a few starter decks for anyone who’s new to the game and wants to give it a try.

Whether you’re collecting mana, casting spells, building your deck, or trying to figure out how your friend’s card somehow ruined your entire evening, this one’s for you.

Refreshing. Luminous. Slightly otherworldly. Atmospheric conditions are perfect for the next installment in our Smog Days 2026 series. Space Weather is bright and expansive, with tropical notes of yuzu, pineapple, and lychee drifting across the palate like plasma carried on a solar wind. Lush fruit unfolds gradually over a rounded citrus base, making this 6.2% ABV release a fitting companion for watching dusk settle into night.

Second Nature hits all Smog City taprooms today.

Brewed in collaboration with South Coast Botanic Garden, this 6% West Coast IPA is bright and crisp with light tropical fruit, citrus, and a delicate kiss of coconut.

Available now on draft and in cans.

Part of our 1% for the Planet initiative, this collaboration celebrates the Garden’s incredible history of turning a former mine and landfill into more than 200,000 plants across the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

That story of renewal is what inspired Second Nature.

Second Nature: A Collaboration With South Coast Botanic Garden

Bright, crisp, and made for late summer, Second Nature West Coast IPA brings together light tropical fruit, bright citrus, and a delicate kiss of coconut. 6% ABV.

Available on draft and in cans this Friday at all Smog City taprooms.

South Coast Botanic Garden has a pretty incredible story. In 1961, private citizens successfully pushed to transform a former diatomaceous earth mine turned landfill into the spectacular garden that now sits on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Today, the Garden is home to more than 200,000 plants and serves as a year-round “Inspiration Site,” filled with bursts of color, peaceful shady groves, and a living example of what thoughtful land reclamation can become.

As part of our 1% for the Planet initiative, we’re proud to partner with South Coast Botanic Garden on a beer that celebrates their long history of environmental beautification, improving the land, and finding practical, innovative ways to turn refuse into renewal.

Second Nature was inspired by that spirit and by the Garden’s mission to connect us all to the wonders of nature.

We also have an exciting new Smog City Heights-inspired writing contest happening right now, so go get all the details below and start flexing your creative muscles.💪

Calling all writers, wordsmiths, and world-builders of Long Beach and beyond! We have a fun new month-long contest taking place at Smog City Heights right now through September 20th, and we want to capture your creativity for the community to admire. (Plus win some prizes and Smog City swag as well.)

The assignment? It’s pretty simple. We want you to take a photo alongside the “Smogonaut” mural inside our Smog City Heights taproom, and submit your most creative story involving the Smogonaut character as the main focal point of your tale. It can be a biographical origin story, a sci-fi adventure, fantasy…wherever your imagination takes you!

Submit your story and photo to [email protected], or if you prefer you can enter via our website — there’s a link in our bio to find a submission form plus all of the rules and guidelines for the contest. The competition is open to both kids and adults, with one winner from each group selected by a three-judge panel that will win a trophy, Smog City merch, and a bound writing journal.
