🐓 Well, you all cleaned us out! 😂

The stand is officially SOLD OUT, so we’ll be closed today while I attempt to convince my flour, butter, and sourdough starter to work a little overtime! 🍞

Since I’m heading back into the kitchen, let’s have a little fun…

🌿 We’re off and learning again! 🌿

Today I’m attending the Botanica Conference with my friend Jamie, and we’re kicking off the day listening to Doug Tallamy! 🌱🐝

Don’t worry, Scott is holding down the fort at Black Rooster Acres! He’s stocking the stand with bread I baked before we started the drive, so what’s there today is what’s there—no restocks! 🍞

Meanwhile, I’m hoping to come home with enough inspiration (and convincing arguments) to persuade Scott that we really don’t need to mow quite so much. 😂

I’ve got my eye on that hill behind the stand, and I’m picturing a beautiful native prairie full of wildflowers, pollinators, and wildlife. Scott might just be picturing another project I’ve dreamed up for him. 🤣

Less mowing, more flowers, happier bees. Sounds like a win to me! 🐝🌼

🎂 Who’s heading to the cake auction today?! 🎂

There might not be any Apple Fritter Focaccia in the stand today… but you WILL find some at the Utica Homecoming Cake Auction! 🍎

We’re also sending along some of our Toffee Brown Butter Caramel Crunch Cookies! 🍪

🐓 We’re OPEN for the weekend at Black Rooster Acres! 🐓

Life has been moving at about 150 mph lately, and apparently getting a Facebook post together fell somewhere between baking bread and trying to remember what day it is. 😂

But don’t worry, the stand is OPEN and stocked!

🥚 EGGS, EGGS & MORE EGGS! Our chickens have been keeping us stocked, and SURPRISE — the geese decided to bless us with some fall goose eggs! These are a rare treat this time of year and are absolutely wonderful for baking and homemade noodles.

🦆 The ducks, however, are still on strike. Apparently, nobody told them the geese went back to work.

🥯 FRESH FROM THE OVEN:

* A variety of scones and muffins
* Farmhouse Original Sourdough
* An assortment of our flavored sourdough loaves

❤️ And on a more serious note…

The stand has already been busy this morning, and I can’t begin to tell you how much that means to me.

With everything going on in life, baking has become my happy place. And the fact that you choose to bring something I’ve made into your homes and share it with your families means more than you know.

🐛 Calling all woolly worm weather forecasters!

Did you know people have been looking to woolly worms to predict winter since at least colonial times?

The folklore really took off in 1948 when entomologist Dr. C. H. Curran studied woolly worms in New York and used the width of their brown bands to make a winter prediction. And apparently, we’ve been consulting fuzzy caterpillars ever since. 😂

According to folklore:

🖤 More black = a colder, harsher winter
🤎 More rusty brown = a milder winter
🐛 A wide brown middle band = an easier winter ahead

So I think it’s time for some very scientific Black Rooster Acres research.

🐓 Orders are OPEN for the week!

You all had Thursday orders sold out before I could even get a menu posted — thank you! ❤️

A little change for this weekend: I’m heading to a Master Gardener conference on Saturday where Doug Tallamy will be speaking 🌱🐝 (and yes, I’m pretty excited!).

Because I’ll be leaving early, I’m skipping Saturday preorders this week. Instead, Friday’s orders will help determine what I bake for the stand, and I’ll make sure it’s stocked up before we head out. Or give me a shout out to what you are hoping to see this weekend!

🍎We are going to lean into Apple Season with Apple C***r Muffins, Apple Fritter Focaccia and Cinnamon Apple Scones 🍎

The stand will still be stocked Thursday–Sunday as usual, so there will be plenty to grab even without a Saturday preorder.

When it’s your birthday and your husband knows you’ve always wanted a rabbit with mascara… 🐰❤️

Meet Chloe.

Tyler had a little Dwarf Hotot named Snowman growing up, and I’ve always loved those beautiful dark-rimmed eyes. Chloe is a mix and not the tiny Dwarf Hotot Snowman was, but the minute I saw her, I was in love.

The funniest part? Scott and I were in completely different parts of Rural King, texting each other about a rabbit.

Turns out… we were both looking at the SAME rabbit. 😂

Then on the way home, I was thinking that Chloe might be the perfect name. I asked Scott what he thought we should name her…

“Chloe.”

Well, okay then. ❤️

Same rabbit. Same name. Neither one of us knew what the other was thinking.

I think she was just meant to come home with us.
