Horse industry ISO Help ads lookin like:

ISO HELP!!

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Feeding/watering 50 head
Riding & saddling 75 head
Cleaning 100 stalls
Mowing 150 acre pasture & my yard
Doctoring cattle, horses, dogs, cats, chickens, elk
Repairing all fencing on my property and the neighbors
No housing provided unless you want to live in the feed room ($700/month plus electric & entire barns water bill)
I might consider your dog & possibly throw your horse out in the retiree pasture (800/month plus feed and hay)
You might get to show (probably not because I need you to stay at home and take care of my kids & spouse while I’m gone (you will also need to be able to cook and clean for a family of 5))
Wipe my ass
Show up 7 days a week, 1 day off a year & it won’t be a major holiday
Pay is dependent on experience but I complete all of this with 3 broken legs & severe COPD in about an hour so starting pay is $12,000 year but you will gain invaluable experience being my personal slave and punching bag. No drama, laziness or drugs (even though I partake in all of that)

Older, long-time producing broodmares don’t get enough credit—and they should. Longevity isn’t just a nice bonus in a breeding program; it’s proof of quality.

A mare who stays sound, fertile, and productive over many years is showing you exactly what she’s made of. She has held up physically, managed pregnancy and foaling repeatedly, and continued to do her job without breaking down. That kind of durability is not accidental. It’s genetics, structure, temperament, and management all working together—and those are traits worth preserving.

These mares also come with something younger mares simply can’t offer yet: a proven track record. They’ve produced foals you can evaluate. You can see consistency, improvement, and how they cross with different stallions. They remove a lot of guesswork from a program and bring reliability to breeding decisions.

Just as important, longevity is heritable. When we value mares that last, we reinforce soundness, resilience, and mental steadiness in future generations. In a world that often prioritizes what’s young and new, we risk overlooking the quiet power of what has already proven itself.

An older broodmare that’s still producing is not “past her prime”—she is the prime example. Longevity should be recognized as an asset, respected as a success marker, and protected as a cornerstone of any serious breeding program.
