The Guesthouse is all fixed up for now. I wasn’t confident about the new gallon of paint I bought in town, so used what was left of the original. Only painted the front this year as some winterizing next spring may necessitate a couple other exterior walls coming down with new siding going up. That renovation could eliminate water lines freezing and allow the Guesthouse to be occupied year-round.

She’s so wonderful. And such a workhorse. Our flagship Airbnb.

We’ve wrapped up the busiest part of the calendar year and will see guest reservations slow considerably. This is the time I shift attention to winterizing buildings, making improvements (Guesthouse exterior paint!), and internalize the joy of less watering and mowing.

The Guesthouse will close for the season at the end of November and reopen mid- March, weather permitting…

This first image came up in FB memories last week. It’s what the Guesthouse looked like 10 years ago after we started painting (it used to be barn red) but before major renovations were decided upon. Funny, because she’s due for fresh paint this week (see current pic) to keep her young and spry. Bored? Come on by and grab a scraper or brush!

Cracked the first two eggs from young Landon’s farm stand and they were both double yolkers! And the Swiss chard in the garden is incredible. If you’re a guest on the farm, please help yourself. Garden is out back…

SO MANY times I drove past this new farmstand just around the bend from home. Yesterday I turned around and went back to shop. This young man has put a lot of effort into the stand and the veg and eggs this summer. Stop by for food that isn’t recalled!!! If you’re at Griff Run and facing the barn, go right and when the road splits stay right and head up Coulter Hill. Straight through the stop sign, follow County A past Durst/Larse farm and it’ll be just around the next bend on your left.

I grabbed two dozen eggs and a cuke for $7. Thank you, Landon!

These situations elicited two genuine, but different reactions from me. Just finished mowing yesterday, closed the garage door and turned around to see these goombahs excited to learn what fun I might have in store next. Then they learned the fun was just brushing them…again. Marco didn’t stand for it (don’t go for his back end, he’s not a fan) as evidenced by the little hair I got out of him. But I was blown away by Polo. He and I could have been there all day! Aren’t they supposed to be keeping their fur this time of year?!

Love our bumbley bees…so many this year.

Still beautiful out there…even as winter is looming. Those yellow mullein flowers smell amazing! And they’re medicinal. The blue asters make me smile every time I walk past, so had to share. Both are volunteer plants and we are happy they chose to be here!

Took a brush to canvas during a class offered at Charlie B’s in Hillsboro. Thankful for a friend who brought me for my bday! Look out, Picasso. Or whomever, lol!
