We would like to extend our sincerest apologies for the events that took place on a quiet Tuesday evening at Blacktop Distillery.
It has come to our attention that inviting a food truck—one that was enthusiastically supported by a significant portion of the community—may have unintentionally disrupted the long-standing tradition of limited dining options on weeknights. For that, we are truly sorry.
We also apologize for our apparent oversight regarding the ever-important peddler’s permit requirement—particularly one that was never mentioned to us prior to the event, and instead surfaced publicly when the town chose to deny approval of a Facebook post without first contacting Blacktop Distillery directly. We regret any confusion caused by assuming that welcoming a small business to serve food to hungry locals would be viewed as a positive thing.
Additionally, we are sorry to those who were troubled by the unusual sight of residents gathering, eating, and enjoying themselves on a Tuesday, as well as to anyone inconvenienced by the presence of fair competition in a free market.
We acknowledge that seeing community members support a visiting vendor—while local leadership also chose to participate—may have created a level of enthusiasm that was, frankly, excessive for a weekday.
Moving forward, we will do our best to better understand which rules are enforced, when they are enforced, and for whom—and hope that, in the future, communication might occur directly rather than after the fact.
Once again, we apologize for the food, the turnout, and the unintended enjoyment.

We offer a rare opportunity to own an entire barrel of handcrafted
whisky—produced, aged, and bottled by our distillery.
When you purchase a full barrel, you’re not just buying whisky; you’re buying time,
craftsmanship, and scarcity. Each barrel is filled with new-make spirit distilled
on-site, aged under our supervision, and influenced by our climate, barrels, and
process—meaning no two barrels are ever the same.
You own the barrel outright. It matures on our rickhouse floors, gains complexity
year after year, and when it’s ready, it’s bottled exclusively for you. That can mean
private-label bottles for personal enjoyment, gifts, collectors, or resale where legal.
Whisky appreciates because supply is fixed and demand grows. You can’t rush
aging, and you can’t replicate a specific barrel once it’s gone. That’s why full barrels
