We’re excited to share that Granite Ridge Farm Dog Treats can now be found at Wolf River Roots on Hwy 64 in White Lake!

A few years ago, while traveling to visit Matt’s brother and sister-in-law, we stumbled upon this beautiful little coffee shop and café tucked inside an old church. And goodness, what a gem! ☕️❤️

One of my favorite things about traveling is discovering hidden treasures along the way. Small businesses with character, charm, and people who pour their hearts into what they do.

And now, a few years later, our little family farm’s dog treats have found their way onto their shelves. A huge THANK YOU to Wolf River Roots for supporting our small family farm and giving our treats a spot in your beautiful space.

We love watching our treats find their way into new communities, especially through other small businesses doing their thing and chasing their dreams.

Here’s to hidden gems, small businesses supporting small businesses, and the unexpected connections made along the way. ❤️

Front Porch Pondering…

And just like that, calving season is over. ❤️

Our very last calf finally arrived—and if you know Primrose, you probably aren’t surprised she kept us waiting. 🤣
Primrose was our very first bottle-fed calf. She was spoiled rotten, loved on endlessly, and there was a time when she depended on us for everything.

And now here she is… raising her fourth calf.

There are seasons when something—or someone—needs nearly everything you have to give. Your time. Your patience. Your energy. Your help.

And when you’re in the middle of those seasons, they can feel like they’ll last forever.

But they don’t.

One day, you look up and that little bottle calf you were feeding is standing in the pasture taking care of a baby of her own.

Maybe that’s one of the lessons farm life keeps teaching me…the seasons that require the most from us are still just seasons.

The long nights end. The hard days pass. The little ones grow. What once needed us every minute eventually needs us a little less.

And somehow, while we were busy just doing the work in front of us, life kept moving.

So here’s to Primrose, her fourth little girl, and the official end of another calving season.

Another season finished.

Another reminder to soak it in while we’re living it. ❤️🐮🌾

Front Porch Pondering…

Funny where life takes you.

Years ago, we were just two girls growing up together, lacing up our cleats, tearing up the soccer field side by side, and probably causing a little ruckus somewhere along the way. I’m pretty sure neither one of us would have guessed that someday we’d be standing next to each other at a farmers market…as farmers. ❤️

Different farms. Different paths.

She grows beautiful organic vegetables. I raise cattle.

But somewhere along the way, both of our paths led us back to the land.

And maybe that’s what I love most about farmers markets. Behind every table is a person. A family. A story. Someone who planted the seed, raised the animal, battled the weather, worked the long days, took the risk, and showed up with something they’re proud to put on your family’s table.

When you support a local farmer, you’re doing so much more than buying vegetables, beef, eggs, flowers, honey—or whatever else fills that market table.

You’re supporting someone’s livelihood. Someone’s dream. Someone who decided to give farming a go.

⚽️ > 🚜 Who knew those two girls tearing up the soccer field would someday grow into women working the land and feeding their communities?

Different fields. Different farms. Different stories.

But all these years later, we’re still cheering each other on. ❤️🌱🐮

Front Porch Ponderings…

I get asked quite a bit, “How do you do it all?”

The truth?

I don’t.

Not even close. 😂

I do my best. Some days I get a whole lot done, some days not. Most days, the laundry is clean…but lives in a pile and we just keep grabbing clothes out of it until somehow the pile disappears.

Sometimes supper is homemade. Sometimes supper is cereal or frozen pizza.

There are things on my to-do list that have been there so long they might as well pay rent.

I’m late more often than I’d like to admit. My house isn’t magazine worthy—it’s lived in. My car is definitely lived in. I am often looking at the calendar the night before or the day of to figure out my schedule. There are projects waiting, things that need cleaning, messages I forgot to answer, and plenty of things I simply have to let go.

And I have help. Lots of help.

Matt always reminding me. Family and friends who step in. Kids who have learned that being part of a family means pitching in.

Somewhere along the way, I think I stopped believing everything had to be done right now.

The important things get done.

The rest? Well…they get done when they’re meant to.

Life is full. It’s messy. It’s busy. It’s imperfect.

But it’s also really, really good.

Maybe the goal was never to do it all, but to learn what’s worth doing—and be okay letting the rest wait.

Front Porch Pondering…

A farmer will always talk about the weather.

Not because we’re short on conversation, but because the weather has a hand in just about everything we do.

You can plan. You can prepare. You can check the forecast 248 times a day watch the radar 82 times a day. 😂 But at the end of the day, Mother Nature still gets the final say.

Matt saw a window this week to make third-crop hay. He cut Tuesday, with plans to bale Thursday. Rain wasn’t supposed to arrive until late Thursday.

Mother Nature had other plans.

About an inch of rain fell Wednesday night and it keeps raining.

And wouldn’t you know it…it was some of the most beautiful third crop Matt has cut in years. Now it’s laying in the field, wet. We’ll wait for it to dry, we are not sure when raking and baling will happen. We have over three weeks’ worth of cattle feed sitting out there.

That’ll make a farmer’s stomach do a few flips. 😬

And sometimes, despite doing everything right, it still rains.

So we wait. We adjust. We figure it out. And we keep moving forward.

Farming has a funny way of reminding you that you were never really in control to begin with.

You just do the best you can with the day—and the weather—you’re given. ❤️🌾

Eight & Acres • A Family Farm Soap Co. - one of my Titletown Night Market vendor buddies is headed our way this weekend for Art World Wausau at Marathon Park!

And let me tell you… she makes my FAVORITE soaps. 🙌 Made with ingredients right from farm animals—beef tallow, pig lard, and goat milk—these soaps are the real deal, simple, farm-made goodness!!!

Front Porch Ponderings…

We FINALLY put up our Farm Store sign, nonetheless on Labor Day! 🙌🏻

It’s been sitting in our kitchen since May. Life got busy. Farming got busy. Raising kids, working, running businesses, making hay, going to markets…the list kept moving, and the sign kept waiting.

But maybe there’s a little life lesson in that.

Everything has a season. And not everything has to happen right now.

This is actually our third Farm Store sign. The first two were homemade with materials we had around the farm. They weren’t fancy. They eventually lost the battle with Wisconsin weather. But you know what?

They worked for the season we were in.

We used what we had.
We started where we were.
And we kept going.

This time, we were able to do things a little differently. Two local small businesses helped bring this one to life. Gary Barden Design helped with the design, and RotoGraphic Printing printed an outdoor sign made to last.

And standing back looking at it today, I realized it represents a whole lot more than where to find our Farm Store.

It’s progress.

Around here, there’s always something we want to build, improve, fix or grow. And sometimes it’s easy to look at everything still waiting on the list instead of everything we’ve already accomplished.

But a farm—or a business, a family, a dream, a life—isn’t built in a day.

You build it little by little.

You use what you have until you can do something more.

You keep showing up when things take longer than you hoped.

You celebrate the small wins.

And you trust that there is a season for everything.

Our first signs weren’t perfect, but they served their purpose. This one sat in our kitchen for four months, but eventually its day came too.

Keep building. Keep dreaming. Keep showing up.

Progress doesn’t always happen on the timeline we imagined.

And today, one more little piece of this crazy dream we call Granite Ridge Farm is finally in place. ❤️

P.S. I got to say “Told you so” more than once today while putting up the sign! 😉😂

🌽 AND THAT’S A WRAP! 🌽

Our sweet corn stands are officially closed for the season! And I’m ready for a nap!

We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who stopped, grabbed a dozen (or five 😉), came back for more, told your friends, and supported our family farm. THANK YOU! ❤️

A huge thank you to Cheeks Bar & Grill and Aunt Ruby & Uncle Eug for hosting sweet corn stands for us. We appreciate you helping us get our corn out into the community (we may need more locations next year)!

We do still have some sweet corn standing in the field. It will be best for freezing, so if you’d like to stock that freezer for winter, just reach out to our expert corn picker Matt @ 715.574.7330…tell him how much you’d like and he will pick it fresh for you.
