10–12 is such a fun age for building real kitchen confidence.

Instead of just teaching kids how to make a recipe, we can start teaching them the skills behind the recipe:

• How to safely use a knife
• How to measure and follow a recipe
• How to sauté vegetables
• How to crack and cook an egg
• How to adjust seasoning
• How to safely use the oven and stovetop
• How to make a simple sauce or dressing
• How to make substitutions when needed
• How to plan and build a simple meal
• How to clean as they go

Recipes become the practice ground for learning skills they can take with them into their own kitchen.

Think homemade salsa, veggie quesadillas, breakfast tacos, stir-fry, mini frittatas, pizza, granola or a simple grain bowl.

The goal isn't perfect cooking. It's giving kids the confidence to say, “I can make this myself."

Happy October! 🍂

A new month is a great time to get your kids involved in the kitchen! 🥕👩‍🍳

We’re currently taking a little pause from classes, but we’ll be back very soon! We miss our sweet little cooks and yes, even all the mess!

Now is a great time to sign up for our newsletter so you don’t miss future classes, workshops, and other fun opportunities.

We’re also working on new recipes, building our curriculum, and brainstorming new workshop ideas. As we grow, we’re always open to collaborating with local organizations and businesses!

If you’re interested in partnering with Kids Kitchen Academy, we’d love to connect.

Getting kids to eat more fruits and vegetables isn’t always about asking them to “eat their veggies.” Sometimes, it starts with simply seeing, touching, smelling, helping prepare, and being around them.

The more opportunities kids have to interact with foods without pressure, the more familiar those foods become. And familiarity can help build comfort and, over time, increase the likelihood of trying and eating them.

Small, positive experiences in the kitchen can help kids build confidence and curiosity around food.

Don't forget to tag us or send a photo of your kids helping in the kitchen for our September giveaway!

There’s something so fun about exploring the kitchen at 2 years old!

Pouring, stirring, mixing, getting a little messy, and being part of the process. These simple moments are building confidence and curiosity around food.

COOK THE RAINBOW CHALLENGE!

September is National Fruits & Veggies Month, and we want to see your little chefs in the kitchen.

This month, we're challenging kids to cook, create & explore with fruits and veggies!

Here's how to join:
🍓 Cook something with a fruit or veggie
📸 Snap a picture or video
📲 Post it & tag

It doesn't have to be fancy! Making a smoothie, washing veggies, helping make dinner, trying a new food, or creating their own snack all count.

At the end of September, we'll randomly pick ONE little chef to win a culinary tool prize pack + $25 gift card! 🥳

Let's get our kids cooking, tasting & exploring! (No age limit for this challenge-- get your teens cooking).

Our recipe cards are more than just a recipe. They’re a tool to help kids learn!

We use visual recipe cards to help kids follow along, recognize ingredients, understand each step, and build confidence in the kitchen. Having the recipe right in front of them makes cooking feel more approachable and helps turn little chefs into independent learners.

And the best part? They get to take their recipe card home!

Each class adds a new recipe to their collection, allowing them to slowly build their very own Kids Kitchen recipe book—filled with foods they’ve made, memories they’ve created, and skills they’ve learned along the way.

Because we want kids to do more than just cook with us… we want to give them the confidence to keep cooking at home.

How many recipe cards have you collected from our classes?

August is National Wellness Month!

Wellness doesn’t have to be complicated—and it can be fun for the whole family!

This month, we’re challenging families to cook, explore, and connect together with 5 simple wellness challenges:

1. Try Something New
Pick one fruit, vegetable, grain, or recipe you’ve never tried before. Taste it together! (Check out the recipe below)

2. Cook Together
Choose one meal or snack and let your child help with the cooking. Give them a job they can own!

3. Eat the Rainbow
See how many different colors of fruits and vegetables you can add to a meal or snack.

4. Explore Without Pressure
Choose a food your child doesn’t usually eat. Look at it, smell it, touch it, and—if they want—taste it. No pressure to like it!

5. Share a Family Meal
Put the phones away, sit together, and enjoy a meal as a family. Talk, laugh, and connect!

What makes Kids Kitchen Academy special is that we don’t just focus on building cooking skills. We dive into culinary and nutrition education, too. We learn about food beyond its taste, smell, and texture, exploring where it comes from, how it nourishes our bodies, and why it matters.

Building a strong foundation for lifelong health is a goal we hope to continue to support in our community.

As many of you know, baby #4 will be arriving this month! ❤️ I'll be taking some time to slow down and soak in these precious moments.

I hope to be back to hosting cooking classes before the holidays! If you know me well, you also know that even while I'm away, I'll probably be working behind the scenes on projects and creating new partnerships.

One of those projects is continuing to build out the mobile teaching kitchen. It's a goal I've been working toward for a while, and I'm excited to keep building momentum.

If you're able to donate, thank you for your support. If not, sharing our post is just as appreciated. Thank you for supporting Kids Kitchen Academy!
