There’s something kind of magical about late summer at the farm. 🌾

Come spend an evening at Saltwater Ranch creating flower crowns, taking photos with the horses, and soaking up one of those golden September nights you wish you could bottle up and keep.

We’re teaming up with Horse Connections for a night of flowers, horses, creativity, and connection—and we’d love to have you here. 🤍

If your garden is handing you Anaheim peppers, this is what to do with them. 🌶️

Roast them until they’re blistered, tuck them into a covered bowl to sweat, peel away the skins—and chop them into fresh garden salsa.

That smoky, roasted flavor changes the whole thing. This is summer garden food at its very best.

Save this for Anaheim season—and tell me: mild salsa or make-it-hurt spicy?

My mom and I have been working on something we really wish we’d had when we first started growing flowers.

A class that doesn’t just tell you to “plant in the fall”—but helps you figure out what to grow, whether to start with seeds, plugs, or plants, when to start each one, and how to actually get them through winter.

And we’re not handing you a pile of videos and leaving you on your own. You’ll have worksheets and tasks that help you find exactly what works for you!

We’ll be growing right alongside you—starting seeds, planting out, experimenting, troubleshooting, and coming back together as the season unfolds.

Because some of the very first flowers of spring actually begin now. 🌱

This is Grow With Us: Seed to Spring—and we cannot wait to show you what’s coming.

COMMENT: GROW if you want more information!

A dear friend and neighbor of mine, Sluggo (Doug Lane), instilled this in me this very early in my growing journey.

He called himself the Mater Man, and he taught me so much about growing great tomatoes. But what he taught me about generosity will always outweigh anything technical I learned from him.

Sluggo found healing from alcoholism in the garden. And then he shared that healing—with every tomato he gave away and every bit of knowledge he passed along.

He’s been gone for a few years now, but I still find myself wishing I could walk to the corner and talk gardens with him. I think of him every time I share something I’ve grown or help someone else learn to grow.

A generous gardener bears much fruit. Sluggo certainly did. ❤️
