Quick update.

Was at the socialist yesterday and they are thinking pancreatic Insufficiency, malabsorption and possible Celiac disease. The doctor is also worried my ferritin level is to low so checking that. My heart rate will jump up to 134-150 and she thinks it’s because my anemia has gotten worse. They took a ton of blood and scheduled a colonoscopy and possible endoscopy depending on what the test show. So still waiting to find out test results. They did send home some pancreatic enzymes for me to try, but I’m honestly a little afraid to because of one of the side effects is really bad.

I fatigued but my spirits are good. I know we will get to the bottom of this eventually and God will keep carrying me while I’m down.

I walked out to see all the does a few days ago and took this video for y’all. We just put both herds together so they are easier to move all at once to pasture. You’ll see them all heading to the pond area. They’re so smart. They know that’s where I generally take them.

I will try to get to everyone’s pages for a visit today (I’ve been missing knowing what’s going on) at some point. I promise I’m not ignoring y’all just this fatigue makes me so tired I tend to fall asleep if I’m sitting for to long. 🤦‍♀️

Prays deeply appreciated. I can’t seem to get in front of this dehydration. I’m drinking a gallon of water a day and still needing IV fluids. They moved my appointment up to tomorrow with the specialist so please pray they can figure this out.

Happy Friday you beautiful people!

First, I want to say a very sincere thank you to all who have checked in on me and direct messaged me. You guys truly are the best! 💕

I’m doing ok. Still having the stomach issues and the medication I’m taking makes me feel very groggy on top of my already being fatigued. I see a specialist on the 22nd so praying they can figure it out.

My second eye surgery went well and recovering from that now.

Hubby and kids are doing 80% of the jobs I would normally do and that is hard for me just not being able to do what I normally would.

My Mom and sister came for my second eye surgery and while here my sister helped get my noodles restocks. She made the dough and cut it and I got it hung and all packed up after it was dried. This will last us a good six months. Nothing better than knowing the only stuff in these noodles are organic flour, farm fresh eggs from our organic fed hens, and pink mineral salt.

It’s unbelievably hot at 100F. The hens and goats have been getting watermelon to help them stay cool. I need to get electrolytes made for their waters.

Here are some photos of the noodles, some noodles when I made the fam chicken Alfredo with those noodles, some soup I made to try to easy my tummy and one of my boy Pharaoh whom I’m told is missing me and Fred and Donkey who are loving the grape vines. Oh and a beautiful flower cause it’s beautiful.

A little update. I was working on answering and visiting some pages earlier then stopped to make dinner and then fell asleep when I sat back down.

My doctor called and test results are clear for bacterial infection and C diff, which I haven’t had antibiotics in years so I didn’t think it was that one.

I’ve been referred to a specialist and we are waiting on more test results.

I am praying it’s something easily fixed and not autoimmune in nature.

Hello all you beautiful people!

First, I can’t thank you enough for stopping by even while I’ve been MIA without even knowing why.

As some of you may remember after my surgery I thought I picked up a stomach bug.

Well some of the symptoms never fully stopped and on Saturday I got really sick.

Of course being the weekend I wasn’t seen by a doctor till Monday. Yes I know I could have gone to the ER, but this wasn’t life threatening so I chose to wait.

Monday I went to doc and They ran a bunch of test and we are still waiting for a lot of them to come back.

What we know. I can’t really eat without getting an upset stomach, this is going on three weeks. I had gotten pretty dehydrated (from Sat) triggering ketones due to my diabetes.

I’ve lost a good bit of weight which honestly I was shocked to see on the scale. You’d think you’d notice it on yourself, but I didn’t.

My hemoglobin is low, my energy is low, and while I’m on meds to help stop the nausea it’s not helping with the food not staying in my system.

I appreciate your prayers and please know I’ll be by to your pages as soon as I can. Right now my energy is all going towards trying to figure out what’s going on.

It’s goat talk time!

Today let’s talk horns, what they are and why goats need them.

There are many people who dehorn their goats. Their reason are valid and I totally understand.

Horned goats are at a higher risk of getting stuck in a fence. We’ve had it happen here.

Horned goats can accidentally hurt you. Horned goats can accidentally hurt another goat.

However, we do not dehorn and I’ll explain why. But first, why do goats have horns in the first place?

A goats horns main purpose is as a way to cool the goat in high temperatures. The way this works is by taking the warmed blood from the body and it gets taken to the horns, which are basically living bone cover by keratin. As the warm blood reaches the horns it gets cooled by the external environment and the cooled blood returns. This helps keep the goat from overheating. Goats also pant and rock their bodies to stay cool.

Another reason goats need their horns is for herd structure. Horns are often used as rank within the herd. The bigger your horns, the higher you are in rank. I’ve found this to be very true within my herd.

Horns are also great clue givers. They can help you guess a goat’s age and let you know a bit about their health. A goat that’s had chronic heavy parasites will have thin brittle horns. A goat that’s had mineral deficiency will also have weak horns.

Horns are also used to help reach branches and part thick brush.

Horns are used in defense against predators.

And let’s be honest, the most important reason to leave your goat’s horned is, they don’t have hands and goats are so itchy all the time. Horns make for the perfect itch scratcher.

Are horned goats more dangerous to be around? Maybe, but we’ve never had an issue that required anything close to needing a doctor. I’ve been bumped by horns, my hubby has caught a horn to the cheek but that’s about the worst of it.

Do horned herds have more injures? In our experience we’ve had one injury that required vet care and that was from a “suspected” horn to another goats belly. It could have been caused by something else, but we don’t know, so I’ll mention it. Over all I’d say no.

Our goats are a landrace breed and as such we feel they need to remain exactly how they were created and that’s with their beautiful horns.
