Incase anyone is wondering what happens in the buck buddy enclosure when rut hits full swing, well here you go.

We had to separate King Ramsey and Pharaoh today.

Pharaoh is almost the same size so they’re no longer friends during this time of the year.

Pharaoh got shifted to a different enclosure and KR stayed with the younger bucklings. They do not challenge him at all so they’re fine. Pharaoh is at an age and size where he wants to prove his dominance.

And that’s what happens when girls get between buddies. 😂

Happy Sunday you beautiful people!

Just thought I’d give a quick update on hubby and explain better what’s going on.

So let’s start by going back to last week.

When my hubby came home early with a headache, stomach pain and a low grade fever we thought Covid or stomach flu. I tested him for both and negative. His fever would come and go and it was nothing we’d ever dealt with before.

I googled and it kept saying it could be appendicitis. I kept trying to convince him to go to the ER but he was convinced it was the flu.

By day three his stomach was still in pain and he finally agreed to go get checked. While at the urgent care the doctor asked about any family history of gut issues and my husband told them about his sister. The PA said she would run blood and go from there. We sat for minty minutes and then a nurse come in to take him for his CT.

Fast forward.

The PA walks in and says your blood did t look terrible but I ran the CT because of your family history. Your blood shows you’re pretty dehydrated but your white blood count is not terrible.

I’m thinking ok, I was wrong, he had the flu. Then she says but the CT showed we have a problem.

No joke y’all, I almost threw up. This was the same urgent care his sister was diagnosed with colon cancer.

Hubby asked her what was wrong and she proceeded to tell us he had a perforation in his colon and free air in his stomach. She said we needed to go straight to the ER that he may need emergency surgery to fix it. Off we go to ER, me fighting nausea and praying so hard.

We get to the ER and get rushed back. Nope! That didn’t happen at all. We sat and waited for almost five hours. My mind was racing and I just couldn’t understand why we were waiting so long.

We finally got called back and were put on a stretcher in the trauma hallway as they had no open rooms. We waited two more hours while people high on L*D were being treated. They had three come in at the same time. One had jumped out of a moving vehicle and the other one was shot. I didn’t see the last one, but we could hear them.

Once we saw a doctor he called in surgery who said we needed to be admitted. The surgical PA explained that they would try IV antibiotics because emergency surgery now wouldn’t be good.

God was so gracious and the antibiotics worked! The doctor explained that he may still need that portion of his colon removed, but they need to do the colonoscopy first to rule out cancer.

As you all know, he is home and has been doing well on the low fiver soft food diet and rest. He is going to his follow up appointment to get referred to a specialist so hopefully we will have a better idea after that.

We are currently in a holding pattern. Praying and trusting in God’s plan for us.

I’m tired from the extra chores, but so thankful to have hubby home.

Thank you to those who read my mini book. 😂 And a huge thank you to those who have been and still are lifting our family up in prayers.

God never said He wouldn’t give us more than we could bare. But He did promise that during the hard times He would never leave us and that He would give us the strength we needed to get through.

It’s rainy and a day where you just wanna stray in bed, but goats had to be feed and chickens checked. All are well and dry.

So thankful for all our hutch shelters for the goats.

Praying for everyone being impacted by this hurricane.

Good news everyone! It’s Friday!

Yesterday while I was letting the goats on the pasture I took some photos of what most consider a w**d and hate as much as dandelions.

Meet Fleabane or Horsew**d, but don’t hate on it to quickly.

Long before it was labeled a w**d,this incredibly native plant was a survivalist staple and an ancient pharmacy. Yep, you read the right.

Let’s talk about its use from a survivalist view. The dried stalk is one of the absolute best materials for friction fire-starting. According to survivalist the dried stalk make an amazing hand drill.

See, pretty useful, but wait there’s more!

Ever wonder where the name "fleabane" comes from?

Historically, early settlers and Native Americans would gather the dried plant and stuff it into mattress and animal bedding.

The natural essential oils inside the plant act as a built-in repellent against fleas and some other pests.

You might be thinking this plant is pretty amazing, and you’d be right. You’d also be right if you thought it had more in store.

Like dandelions, the tiny florets are a major food source for native bees, beneficial wasps, and butterflies. I for one realize without our pollinators our foods don’t grow, so we love plants that help them.

Did you know fleabane belongs to the sunflower family and is entirely edible?

The young, tender leaves can be dried and crushed to use as a spicy seasoning substitute for tarragon!! I’ve not tried it yet, but I’m going too!

There are medicinal uses as well, but you’ll have to research those on your own. :)

Hubby is doing well at home and we so appreciate all the love and prayers.
