Farm friends! I had the best little convo with the bank teller yesterday and I want to tell you about it!! 🤗 He was doing my deposit and said "oh are you a social worker??"

Leila: I am! And a farmer

Does overthinking make you want to distract and hide your head in the snow like Clover? Or are you more like Johnny and prefer to have awareness of everything to remain on top?

Anxious thoughts can lead us to act on a myriad of coping skills from distracting, controlling, focusing attention, rationalizing, projecting, blaming, sleeping… and the list goes on and on.
There is no inherently ~right~ or ~wrong~ way to handle feeling overwhelmed. However, there are ways to self sooth to prevent creating any further hurt to yourself or others. Anxious thoughts can be like motor fuel to help us get along and get things done! But… if you have too much fuel, your brain can burnout. So, before you throw out the whole engine (with hours of doom scrolling, burning a relationship bridge…) cool down with some deep breathing and an engaging/stimulating activity (clover might recommend building an igloo or Johnny might climb a mountain, while the bunnies have a yap fest with their friends).
Then, when the thoughts are a little calmer (and maybe nicer), take a moment to listen. What actions might help convince your anxiety that you’re in control of the situation and everything is a-ok! Is it working on the project you’ve been putting off? Sending that text you’ve had pinned for 2 weeks? Finally going to the post office and sending out that last holiday gift to your in-laws?

Let your coping skills help build you up! You are the driver of your life- you’ve got this!
