I always like a slow morning. The air is a bit cooler and less smoky today. With some much needed rain forecasted for the day. The fields have been begging for it and I’ve been begging for the rain to wash the smoke away. The garden has taken off with an afternoon of canning green beans and possibly some pickles yet today after going into town yet this morning. Once I’m done putting up what I need as far as canned vegetables and what not I will have some out on the truck. Beets, cabbage, green beans and soon sweet corn as our field is looking great this year. If anyone needs dill let me know mine is flourishing. I’ll plant lettuce here soon because though I don’t consume much of it a salad sounds good somedays and I trust my raw milk and homegrown lettuce before anything coming from a store.

Planted an arrangement of flowers I don’t normally plant in a section of the garden this year and there’s rogue sunflowers all over from last year’s sunflowers. The kids are always bring some sort of bouquet inside almost daily now. I have flowers everywhere.

I’ve never seen so many fox snakes around as I have this year. Normally, the little garter snakes are plentiful but not these big guys. I did let it go back to its home in the strawberry bed, hoping it keeps the gophers away from the veggies.
