HANDS4CHANGE SEPTEMBER ROUND-UP | HELLO OCTOBER! ✨💙

What a month September was! ❤️ Another month filled with creativity, opportunities, community and new beginnings at Hands4Change!

🩰 Our young performers experienced Cape Town City Ballet’s Coppélia at the Joseph Stone Auditorium, enjoying professional ballet and seeing dancers from our own communities on stage.

🎭 We enjoyed a special theatre outing with the OVCCN crew to The Baxter, bringing community and the arts together.

🩰 We took a little throwback trip to our 2025 Cape Town City Ballet workshop and celebrated the journey of our young performers.

📱 Hands4Change officially joined TikTok! 🎉 A new space to share our young people's dance, drama, music, creativity, and performances.

💼 We launched a new arm of Hands4Change — Hands4Change Grassroots Marketing Solutions! 🌱

Created as a fundraising and sustainability initiative, the new arm provides practical marketing, business, organisational and creative support to businesses, entrepreneurs, NPOs, NGOs, ECD centres, schools, churches, sports clubs, community organisations and social enterprises.

From flyers and business profiles to proposals, documents, branding and promotional material — the aim is simple:

YOUR CHOICE. THEIR FUTURE. ❤️🌱

🏐⚽ The school holidays kicked off with the MOD Holiday Programme at Marine and Kleinberg, bringing sport, arts and culture, games, teamwork and fun.

🌿 We celebrated Heritage Day, honouring our cultures, traditions and stories.

🌿 And what a beautiful way to end September with the ROOTS Heritage Celebration on 29 September!

Faith, worship, old-school games, a stage play, dancing, laughter, and community came together in one special celebration. Our Hands4Change children performed Jerusalema, while three of our girls proudly choreographed and performed their own dance! 💃🔥

The day ended with everyone joining hands for “We Are the World.” 🌍❤️

And now… HELLO OCTOBER! ✨

Another month. Another chapter. Another opportunity to keep changing lives through Arts, Education & Community Development. 💙

🌿 ROOTS HERITAGE CELEBRATION – WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY! 🌿

Today started with inspirational words from John 8:12:

✨ “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” ✨

From there, we went straight into praise and worship, with songs, movement, and plenty of joyful actions! ❤️

Next came a little trip down memory lane with an old-school stage play celebrating the games and fun of yesteryear.

Before cell phones, tablets, PlayStations, and Wi-Fi took over, children had a much simpler recipe for fun — a rope, a ball, a few friends, and a BIG imagination! 😂

Skipping rope, traditional games, running around, singing, dancing, and making up our own games. Just children being children. ❤️

The spotlight soon turned to our Hands4Change children! 👏🔥

Our young dancers brought their energy with a fun rendition of the old-school favourite, Jerusalema. 💃🔥

Take 3 — yes, THREE of our girls! 👏❤️

These young ladies self-choreographed their own dance, took the initiative, and absolutely nailed it! 🔥👏

What a beautiful example of confidence, creativity, and growth — taking what they have learned and making it their own.

😂 The fun continued when two of the Living Hope coaches took to the stage for a dance to the song “John Cena”! 🎶😂

Let’s just say… there wasn’t a person in the room who wasn’t laughing! Their energy and enthusiasm had everyone entertained. 👏❤️

Pick a Box brought its own dose of excitement, laughter, and a little friendly competition! 🎁😂

Well done to all the winners! Choosing between the boxes was a tough one, but it was all in good fun.

For the beautiful finale, everyone joined hands in a circle and sang “We Are the World,” becoming a chain of hope. 🌍❤️

From one hand to another.
From one heart to another.
From one generation to the next. ❤️

💚 Thank you to our host, Living Hope – Ocean View Holiday Programme, for inviting Hands4Change to be part of this beautiful celebration and creating a space where our children and community could come together, share their talents, and celebrate our heritage.

🎤 A special shout-out to our remarkable MC, Ms C, and the entire team for keeping the programme flowing and the atmosphere warm, fun, and welcoming!

❤️ Thank you to all the parents, guardians, family, friends, neighbours, and community members who came to support, laugh, dance, and celebrate with us.

And of course, a heartfelt thank you to our Uniting Reformed Church - Ocean View community. 💚

Thank you for believing in the importance of safe spaces and giving our Ocean View children somewhere to come together, stay engaged, learn, have fun, discover their talents, and simply be children — especially during the school holidays.

Your doors are helping create a space where our children can grow, connect, and thrive. 🌿

Today was more than a series of performances.

It was about faith, childhood, heritage, community, and the incredible gifts our children carry within them.

🌿 From faith, to worship, to the games of yesterday, to the music and dance of today — we celebrated our ROOTS.

🌍 WE ARE THE WORLD. ❤️

Changing lives through faith, celebrating our heritage, embracing the joy of childhood, strengthening our community — through Arts, Education & Community Development.

🩰✨ WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR HANDS4CHANGE! ✨🩰

On Friday, 18 September 2026, our Hands4Change children and adult supervisors had the opportunity to attend Cape Town City Ballet’s Coppélia at the Joseph Stone Auditorium in Athlone — and what a memorable experience it was! ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to Cape Town City Ballet for inviting our Academy and making this experience possible. Our children had the opportunity to sit in the audience and experience a professional live production.

What made the day even more meaningful was seeing 40 dancers from the Eoan Group and Dance for All performing alongside Cape Town City Ballet. For our young dancers, seeing dancers from our own communities performing on that stage is something they can take with them and aspire towards.

A heartfelt THANK YOU also goes to the City of Cape Town and the Western Cape Government Cultural Affairs and Sport for supporting opportunities that bring the arts into the lives of our communities and young people. 🩰✨

And for me personally, this was a beautiful full-circle moment. I started my own dance journey and spent many, many hours taking lessons and dancing at the Joseph Stone. It is a place that forms part of my own story and my journey in the performing arts. To now see our Hands4Change children sitting in that same auditorium and experiencing a live production was a moment I will treasure.

This is why opportunities like this matter. Our children get to see what is possible, experience something new and perhaps one day find themselves on that very stage.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible — the dancers, teachers, organisers, transport team, our adult supervisors, the City of Cape Town, the Western Cape Government Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, and Cape Town City Ballet.

We truly appreciate everyone who continues to believe that our Ocean View children deserve opportunities to experience, learn, grow and dream beyond what they see every day.

This is exactly why we do what we do.

MOD HOLIDAY PROGRAMME

We are excited to announce that we, as Hands4Change Performing Arts Academy, will be participating in the MOD Holiday Programme during the September/October school holidays! 🎉

We will focus on two main activities per day, giving our young people the opportunity to participate, have fun, develop new skills and work together as a team.

🩰✨ THROWBACK: WHEN OUR YOUNG PERFORMERS STEPPED INTO THE WORLD OF BALLET! ✨🩰

On 9 & 10 October 2025, our Hands4Change young performers had the wonderful opportunity to take part in a two-day workshop with Cape Town City Ballet. ❤️

Two days of dancing, learning, meeting professional dancers, and getting a little glimpse into the world of professional ballet. 🩰✨

For our young people, it was about so much more than dance. It was about stepping into a new environment, experiencing something different, and seeing what is possible when a door is opened for you.

And then… came the cherry on top! 🍒🥹

✨ This very photograph was featured on the Cape Town City Ballet website as part of their Youth & Audience Development work! ✨

Seeing our young performers featured alongside other young participants and the professional dancers who shared their passion with them was such a proud moment for Hands4Change. ❤️

From a small community in Ocean View to the pages of Cape Town City Ballet — Ocean View made it to the ballet! 🩰❤️ Our young performers are showing us that big dreams don’t need a big postcode. ✨

Sometimes an opportunity is more than just an opportunity.
Sometimes it opens a door, sparks a dream, and makes a young person think:

“Maybe I can do this too.” ❤️

💙✨ HANDS4CHANGE AUGUST ROUND-UP | HELLO SEPTEMBER! ✨💙

WOW… August was a month filled with growth, opportunity, community, and beautiful moments! 🌟

♿ Roman received his wheels — a true reminder of what can happen when a community comes together.

🍎 Our Academy introduced daily snacks for our learners, because supporting our young people goes beyond the classroom.

🎭 Our Drama learners performed “The Legend of Lightning Larry” twice — and watching their confidence grow from the first performance to the second was something special!

💃 Our kids experienced the Movement & Miller Showcase, Park-Off, and the incredible “The Elements” production, with Bella, Martinique, and Martinica getting the opportunity to perform.

💙💚 We proudly participated in the OVCCN Women’s Day Community Event, performing dance and singing items — and our team came 2nd in Mommy & Daughter Netball! 🥈🏐

🌟 We introduced you to Jayden and Nono — two young talents growing in confidence and discovering their voices through the arts.

📰 Our community work was also recognised during Women’s Month by the False Bay Echo.

👕 We launched our boys’ clothing drive and 🎟️ our R10 raffle fundraiser to help us work towards our 2027 Camp & Year-End Party.

🙏 And to everyone who supported, donated, shared, transported, taught, encouraged, and showed up — THANK YOU!

August reminded us that it really does take a community to create opportunities. 💙
