A tasting can turn into an afternoon.

That is often how a visit to the Diemersdal Tasting Room unfolds. Start with a tasting, discover a w**e you would like to spend a little more time with, and settle in with a bottle at the table.

Our Cheese and Meat Platters are available to enjoy alongside the w**es – made for sharing and for those visits that are in no particular hurry to end.

Come for the w**e. Stay for the afternoon.

Spring calls for something fresh in the glass.

With the first warmer days arriving in the Cape, Grüner Veltliner feels right at home on the table.

Diemersdal Grüner Veltliner shows inviting notes of kiwi, stone fruit and lime, followed by ripe pear, sweet melon and a distinctive touch of white pepper. Medium-bodied and concentrated, it finishes long and mineral.

It may be one of the lesser-known varieties in the Diemersdal range, but it is certainly one worth discovering. This w**e also brought home a trophy at the Cape Town Young W**e Show this year.

Serve it well chilled and enjoy the change of season.

Have you discovered Grüner Veltliner yet?

A new growing season is beginning in the Pinotage vineyards at Diemersdal.

Viticulturist Gerrit Visser has been monitoring the first budburst of the season, which has started a little earlier than usual this year following a relatively dry winter.

Budburst is the stage when dormant winter buds open and the first green shoots emerge. It is one of the earliest visible signs that the vine has entered a new growing cycle.

For Diemersdal’s dryland vineyards, winter rainfall is especially important. These vines are farmed largely without irrigation during the growing season and depend on moisture stored naturally in the soil profile. Lower winter rainfall means Gerrit and the vineyard team will be watching soil moisture and vine growth carefully as the season develops.

From budburst, the young shoots will continue to grow and develop flower clusters. Flowering and fruit set follow later in spring, laying the foundation for the bunches that will eventually be harvested.

For now, it is simply the first green growth amongst the winter vines — but it marks the beginning of the 2027 vintage.

We are delighted to share Diemersdal’s results from the Tim Atkin MW South Africa Special Report 2026.

Fourteen Diemersdal w**es received scores of 91 points and above, including three w**es awarded 94 points:

Noble Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2025 — 94
The Globe Sauvignon Blanc 2024 — 94
The Journal Sauvignon Blanc 2025 — 94

The full results include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and w**es from our Prospect range.

What makes this especially rewarding for us is seeing such a broad selection of Diemersdal w**es recognised in the same report.

Tim Atkin MW’s South Africa Special Report is an important international reference for South African w**e, and these results are particularly meaningful as Diemersdal continues to build its presence in export markets.

We are very proud of the team behind these w**es and pleased to share the results.

14 w**es, all scoring 91 points and above.

There is more than one way to open a bottle of Cap Classique… 🥂

Today, 1 September, we celebrate Cap Classique Day with Diemersdal Cap Classique, made from Old Vine Chardonnay grown here on our Durbanville farm.

And while we may agree on what is in the bottle, our team clearly has very different ideas about how to open it. 🍾

The slice. The spray. The pop. Or the silent pop.

How do you open yours?

Cabernet Sauvignon is a variety that can reward time in the bottle.

For International Cabernet Sauvignon Day, we are looking beyond the current release and into the Diemersdal Vinothèque, where selected older vintages of The Journal Cabernet Sauvignon offer the opportunity to experience the w**e further along in its journey.

As Cabernet Sauvignon develops, its firm structure can soften and its flavours become more layered, giving a fascinating perspective on both the w**e and the vintage from which it came.

Our Vinothèque is a carefully held selection of older Diemersdal w**es, available in limited quantities for those who would like to revisit the past through the glass.

Worth the wait.
Selected Vinothèque w**es are available online and from our tasting room.

Diemersdal The Journal Pinotage 2024 has been named in the ABSA Top 10 Pinotage. 🏆

This year also marks the 30th year of the Pinotage Awards, making the recognition even more special.

Adding to the result, three Diemersdal w**es were selected among the Top 20:

• The Journal Pinotage 2024
• Diemersdal Pinotage 2025
• Pinotage Reserve 2023

For us, this is a wonderful reflection of the strength and consistency of Pinotage across the Diemersdal range, and a special result for a variety that is so closely tied to South African w**e.

Congratulations to the team behind these w**es.

Some w**es are best discovered around a table.

A visit to the Diemersdal tasting room is a chance to taste across the range - from familiar favourites to w**es you may not have tried before.

A few w**es in the glass, something to share at the table, and time to enjoy being on the farm.

Sometimes, the best way to get to know a w**e is simply to taste it. 🍷

From Cape Town Champion to SA Champion Shiraz. 🏆

Following its success at the Cape Town Young W**e Show, Diemersdal’s 2026 Shiraz has gone on to receive one of the country’s top young-w**e honours: the Burgoyne Trophy for SA Champion Shiraz at the National Young W**e Show.

The Young W**e Show offers a unique look at w**es from the most recent harvest while they are still developing. For the 2026 Shiraz to be recognised at national level is a wonderful indication of the quality and potential of the vintage.

A special result for the team — and plenty to look forward to from the 2026 vintage.

Pictured with the Burgoyne Trophy are Diemersdal viticulturist Gerrit, w**emakers Juandré and Leana, and Tienie Louw, together with representatives of the SA Young W**e Show.

And winning SA Champion Shiraz on Shiraz Day made this one particularly special. 🍷🏆

Syrah and Shiraz are the same grape variety. So why does Diemersdal make both?

On National Shiraz Day, it is the perfect opportunity to explore two deliberately different expressions of the same grape.

Our Syrah is made with 100% whole-bunch fermentation and spends 12 months in French oak barrels. The result is an elegant, perfumed w**e with notes of violets, dark berries, cherries, herbs and white pepper, with soft tannins and a spicy finish.

Our Estate Shiraz takes a richer, more structured direction. Red and dark fruit meet black and white pepper, spice and dark chocolate, supported by well-integrated oak and a long, spicy finish.

Both begin with the same variety and both are made here at Diemersdal — but the choices made in the vineyard and cellar allow each to develop its own distinctive character.

Same grape. Same farm. Two different expressions.

Which style would you choose?

Sauvignon Blanc, but perhaps not as you know it.

For our Noble Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2024, the grapes are left to linger on the vines until touched by Botrytis cinerea, more commonly known as noble rot.

This natural process develops the fruit’s sweetness and rich flavours, while Sauvignon Blanc retains the freshness that gives the w**e its beautiful balance.

Carefully aged in barrel, the result is a golden, luscious dessert w**e with notes of ripe fruit, honey and roasted nuts, followed by an elegant finish.

A w**e made for the slower end of a meal — enjoyed on its own, or alongside something equally special. 🍷

Four trophies for Diemersdal at the inaugural Cape Town Young W**e Show. 🏆

We are incredibly proud to have received four trophies for our young 2026 w**es — an exciting early indication of what is to come from this vintage.

🏆 Laffort SA Cabernet Sauvignon Trophy — Cabernet Sauvignon (wooded)
🏆 Fassbinderei Stockinger Shiraz Trophy — Shiraz (wooded)
🏆 Vicard SA Red Blend Trophy — Cabernet Sauvignon / Shiraz / Pinotage (wooded)
🏆 Cape Cooperage Niche Cultivar Trophy — Grüner Veltliner

Behind these young w**es is a season of work across the farm — from Gerrit, Tiaan and the viticulture team in the vineyards to Thys, Juandré, Mari, Leana and the w**emaking team in the cellar.

These trophies are a proud result for the entire Diemersdal team and an exciting first glimpse of the w**es still to come from the 2026 harvest.

Thank you to the sponsors, organisers and Durbanville W**e Valley for putting together a wonderful inaugural Cape Town Young W**e Show, with the awards ceremony hosted at Durbanville Hills.
