⚠️ Important Notice from Cray About Tails & Raptor Fine Foods ⚠️

Due to the current high levels of algae blooms and marine toxins affecting sections of the coastline, we are unfortunately unable to source products that meet our strict safety and quality standards.

As a result, we have temporarily placed all collections and supply orders on hold until conditions are confirmed safe for human consumption.

Our trusted suppliers, Mussel Monger and Paternoster Fisheries, are also currently suspended until further notice while environmental testing continues.

The health and safety of our customers always comes first, and we refuse to compromise on quality.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and support during this period. We will resume business in October 2026 when crayfish season is back open.

Trade Notice: Temporary Suspension of Supply – Saldanha/ Paternoster Bay Closure

Dear customers,

We are writing to inform you that Saldanha Bay has been officially closed for shellfish harvesting due to elevated levels of harmful algae associated with Paralytic Shellfish Toxin (PST).

It is imperative to note that South Africa adopts very strict closure limits which are well below harmful levels, meaning there is a substantial buffer between closure of farms and risk to consumers and so we do not anticipate any negative effects on consumers, however the sale of mussels and oysters is strictly prohibited.

In line withindustry protocols:

* We are recalling all stock distributed from Wednesday onwards.

* All further sales and distribution are suspended until clearance is received.

🔥🔥For clarity:🔥🔥

* Monitoring includes both water sampling and shellfish meat testing.
* Testing is conducted through industry regulatory systems and verified by independent laboratories.
* Closure thresholds are deliberately conservative, meaning they are enforced well before any consumer health risk arises.

At this stage:
* There is no cause for alarm, but precautionary action is required.
* We expect updated test results by Monday evening, with a hopeful reopening shortly thereafter.

We will keep you informed in real time and resume supply immediately once clearance is granted.
If you have any mussel stock on hand from Monday onwards, please isolate it and await further instruction from our team.
We appreciate your cooperation and continued partnership in maintaining the highest standards of food safety.

We are an office-based, regulated seafood supplier, not a walk-in retail outlet.
