The underbelly of winemaking!

This is “Press-cilla” – the Queen of the Winery - busy extracting every bit of juice from the fruit. Maybe not one of her most flattering angles, but it does give a great perspective of the mechanics of wine making.

There are some lovely delicate flavours in this year’s juice. We’re looking forward to seeing the final wine.

Its been a challenging year in the with most vineyards experiencing the vagaries of the season which have led to small bunches and below average yields.

A big advantage of having five different grape varieties – each of which works to a slightly different timetable – it means that even in the “bad” years, there is always one variety that shines. In 2026 it is definitely the Sauvignon Blanc. The crop is looking spectacular, and the flavours are amazing.

Despite an overall late start and slow season, our Gamay crop has come in pretty much on time. With the recent stunning weather and warm days, the grapes have matured nicely and are now on their way into the winery for the next step in their journey
