Simply Wines

Simply Wines Melbourne & Australia's Premier Best Online Wine Store & Official Distributor-Grassl Glass. Not forgetting Tasmania with the superb Pinot Noir and Riesling.

Established in 2009, SIMPLY WINES has been searching the world over for hard to find wines. Being Victorian, we do have a soft spot for regions like the Yarra Valley, Beechworth, Gippsland, Mornington Peninsula and Geelong. We still love classic South Australian Shiraz from the Clare Valley, Barossa, McLaren Vale and Coonawarra, and who can pass up some of the most prestigious wines in Australia f

rom Margaret River in Western Australia. Let's also mention the Hunter Valley and Canberra wine regions. Yes, it's obvious SIMPLY WINES loves fine wine. We love nothing better than sitting with friends, glass in hand, sharing the experience of a newly opened bottle and the memories of the time and place. Service is our mark and we pride ourselves on it, our customers are important to us. SIMPLY WINES is the exclusive importer of Grassl Glass to Australia, a range of fine mouth blown glassware designed in Switzerland. We stock a small range of high-quality boutique wine, usually where quantities are too small for the big outlets.

Shanghai Nights Done Right!
Just had one of the coolest dining experiences in the French Quarter at Old Jesse on Tianping Road.
Classic Shanghainese vibes in a nostalgic setting!
My mate Justin was in fine form all night, keeping the table laughing non stop.
Thank god the credit card cleared… because we were this close to doing the dishes!
Paired it all with a beautiful Bordeaux from Edmund de Rothschild 2022.
Smooth, elegant, and the perfect match with the food.
If you’re in Shanghai, do yourself a favour and check this place out.
Old-school charm with serious flare!

Somewhere between the lavender fields and the next glass of Rosé!
Lourmarin has a way of slowing everything down.
Local pour, local sun, zero complaints.
Justin, we found a good Rosé!

Is Vosne-Romanee your favourite sub-region in Burgundy?
Bonjour, look at that colour!
That deep, ruby glow in the glass, catching the light like liquid velvet on a sun-drenched French courtyard.
This Pierre Ravaut Vosne-Romanée 2015 doing what it does best!
Making your phone screen feel dangerously drinkable.
That burst of black cherry, wild strawberry, and warm spice that hits you first.
Then it unfolds, dark earth, a whisper of forest floor, violets and that silky, seductive texture only the best Vosne delivers.
2015 gave us these perfect and elegant Pinot Noir’s.
It’s pure Côte de Nuits magic, power wrapped in elegance.

Do you enjoy Gamay?
“Not the Jean Foillard!”
Absolute outrage from the old man, luckily for us we loved this epic Gamay!
One of the true originals from Beaujolais.
Jean Foillard’s Morgon Côte du Py 2022.
It was firing on all cylinders!
Vibrant, structured and oodles of length!
As you can see a total crowd favourite.
We served it slightly chilled.
Pro tip, it definitely tastes even better when it’s been saved by someone else 😂.
Do you serve your Gamay slightly chilled?

There’s something magical about opening a bottle in a 600 year old cellar!
The smell of ancient dust, cool stone walls and low hung light features make this place unreal.
Watch your head!
Checking in on a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape!
If these old walls could talk, the stories they’d tell!
Cheers to sharing great with even better friends!

Vineyard trimming at Chateau La Canorgue!
The winemaker is out among the rows, guiding a tractor with precision through the vines.
The mechanical trim shapes the canopy, improving airflow and sunlight pe*******on so the grapes can thrive in this beautiful Luberon terroir.
For over 200 years this family property has been tended with care, and since the 1970s as one of the first organic pioneers in the region.
Jean-Pierre Margan and his daughter Nathalie (5th generation) continue the tradition.

Vineyard maintenance and protection in Bonnieux!
While I was out riding/sweating out some Rosé toxins I stumbled across this vineyard.
There was a winemaker in his tractor spaying a light mist between the vines.
From my limited knowledge on sprays, he was likely applying a fungicide protectant to shield the vines from rain triggered diseases.
Fairly timely, because today in Bonnieux there was an explosive weather event….
a thunderstorm with hail the size of corks!
If there are any winemakers out there who have input I’d be glad to hear your opinion on what was being sprayed.

An Epic Evening at JU Maison de Cuisine, tucked into the hills of the Luberon in the ancient stone village of Bonnieux.
From the moment we stepped through the door of this intimate, one Michelin star gem, time slowed.
We decided to take the 6 course degustation, which really translates to about 12, when you count the in between surprises.
Every dish was a masterclass in taste and presentation, truly wonderful.
But wait, there’s more…the cheese room… nothing prepared us for the moment Mathias led us down into the 13th-century cellar.
Imagine descending into a vaulted cathedral of stone, carved by hand centuries ago surrounded by local wines of the Luberon and Vaucluse, each bottle telling a story of sun-drenched terroir, meticulous hands, and Provençal passion.
Then came the cheeses….omg the cheeses!
You make your own selection after a lesson on each one, and they are paired with a sticky wine of your choice…we chose Ratafia and aged beauties from nearby farms, creamy, nutty, earthy, and bold!
Chef Julien Allano and his team don’t just serve food and wine, they share an intimate experience into why this corner of France is pure magic!

What do you drink in Provence when it’s 30 degrees?
If you answered box Rosé, I applaud you!
This is part 1 of Le box Rosé roulette!
Justin and I testing out what the locals have to offer.
Needless to say… we’re going to need to try a few more before we pass judgement…
To be continued.
