Embrace the winter solstice with a Tamar Valley Excursion.

Join the team at Small Wonder Wines on Friday 19 June from 2pm to 3pm at the Small Wonder Barrel Hall for a guided tasting of Tamar Valley and Coal River Valley wines, presented side by side.

Led by winemaker Ockie Myburgh, this masterclass explores how Tasmania’s northern and southern growing conditions shape Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. You’ll taste thoughtfully selected 2025 vineyard parcels, including unreleased wines from our premium Clay, Auburn and Oriele series.

Expect detail, contrast, and a closer look at how climate, soil, and considered winemaking are expressed in the glass.

We stopped into Moores Hill the other week and got to experience first-hand the fascinating art of pump overs in action.

This is a key part of the Pinot Noir winemaking process, where the juice is pumped from the bottom of the tank and gently sprayed back over the top of the fermenting grapes. It helps keep the “cap” (the floating layer of grape skins) moist and active, while also drawing out beautiful colour, flavour and structure.

The longest night of the year is just over a month away, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate it than by heading to NOIR NOIR: Winter Solstice, hosted by Tamar Ridge Wines.

Held on Saturday, June 20, come and enjoy the new release wines from Tamar Ridge alongside whisky tastings from Turners Stillhouse, live music, and food by Malvina’s Paellas.

You can also stargaze beneath the night sky with local astronomer Chris Arkless guiding you through which stars are which.
