Located in Tasmania, the distillery's location takes advantage of the cool, moist, maritime environment which provides perfect conditions for making whisky. The distillery uses its own abundant clear spring water, which flows off Mount Arthur directly into the distillery, and becomes the heart of the develloping spirit. We speciallize in hand-made single malt Tasmanian Whisky and other high quality spirits and take pride in our range of products.

Today we say goodbye to Sam as he finishes up his time with us here at McHenry Distillery.

Sam is the first to lend a hand, first to have a laugh, and somehow always bringing a bit of chaos with him too.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything he’s done and while we’re sad to see him go, we’re excited to watch him spread his wings and take on whatever comes next.

The distillery won’t quite be the same without you mate. Thanks for everything, Sam. 🥃

This is our Peated Single Malt — 35 PPM of Scottish peat layered into Tasmanian spring water and patient barrel ageing here at Port Arthur.

Earthy smoke up front, soft caramel and vanilla through the middle, and a finish that just keeps going. Gentle spice, a little coastal salinity, and that quiet warmth peat drinkers chase.

Not loud. Not complicated. Just built properly.

Our winter Stargazing & Distillery Deep Dive evenings are back.

Join us every Thursday from 6:30pm–8:30pm at McHenry for a winter experience that brings together two of our favourite things — whisky and the night sky.

Spend the evening with us for a guided stargazing and telescope viewing under some of Tasmania’s clearest winter skies. Throughout the night, we’ll share stories of whisky making, life at the distillery, and the history behind McHenry and Port Arthur.

A completely different way to experience the distillery during the off season.

Tickets are $80 for adults and $30 for children.
