Each Wednesday morning, we receive a visit from the Wheatland County Food Bank, serving the people of Strathmore and area. Each Monday, the Chestermere Food Bank stops by to do the same. And throughout the last few winters, a long-time friend of the farm cheerfully stopped by every second Thursday to bring veggies to the Veteran’s Food Bank in Calgary and the Brenda Strafford Foundation.
These dedicated volunteers receive and distribute our donated potatoes, carrots, beets, and seasonal items to help those in our community who are down on their luck. We have always considered it an honor to give back to our community in this way.
Yesterday, the Wheatland County Food Bank graciously awarded us this certificate; I want to share it with you. I don’t often share things like this, but this time, I felt our customers deserved to know.
When you buy a ‘Poplar Bluff’ or ‘Carrots by Cam’ product, you are supporting not only the farm, but also those around you. We are local growers and members of this community. Our full-time employees live in the Strathmore, Carseland, and Calgary area. And every sale enables us to give back to the community we all share.
So to our customers: thank you. By shopping locally, you helped more people around you than you knew.
If you’re unsure where to find our veggies, send us a DM with a general description of where you live – we’ll make a recommendation or two.
