Story time! Today, it’s about one of our (and your!) all-time favourites - Antarctic Pure Sea Salt ✨

Some things take time - and we believe good salt is one of them. Far off the coast of South Africa, cold Antarctic waters travel north along the rugged shoreline, carried by the Benguela Current. Over time, the ocean water slowly filters through ancient seashell beds and sand, naturally collecting in a rare underground saltwater aquifer.

The mineral-rich brine is then brought to the surface and slowly dried by the sun and coastal winds. No heavy processing or machine grinding. Just simple, traditional methods.

Our salt is hand-harvested, naturally mineral-rich, and independently tested for purity and heavy metals. It has a clean, balanced flavour and a delicate texture that makes even simple meals feel special.

Smoky, rich, and just the right kind of spicy 🌶️

Our Organic Chipotle Chile Powder comes from ripe jalapeños grown on a small-scale family farms in New Mexico. The peppers are slowly smoke-dried to create the deep, warming flavour that makes chipotle such a favourite in kitchens all around the world. So yes, chipotle is essentially just leveled up jalapeños!

The smoky aroma, rich colour, and heat come naturally from the peppers themselves. Chipotle is rich in capsaicin and contains vitamins A, C, and B6. Not only it adds a bold flavour to meals, it’s also been traditionally appreciated for its antioxidant-rich and anti-inflammatory qualities.

Looking for ways to use our chipotle powder? We’ve got you:

• Sprinkle it over grilled veggies (or fruit - try it on grilled pineapple!)

From May 30 to June 5, here in Campbell River, we are celebrating Go by Bike Week!

A lot of us at Gathering Place choose to bike or scooter to work when we can, and it’s become one of the simple ways we try to lower our impact while enjoying a little more fresh air and connection to the community.

We really believe small everyday choices can add up over time. That’s also why we offer CO₂ credits to team members who bike to work as a small thank you for choosing a lower-impact way to get around. The fun part? Those credits can be used to “buy” spices, herbs, teas, and salt!

There’s something special about slowing down a little and moving through town by bike. You notice the seasons changing, get outside before the workday starts, and feel a bit more connected to the place you live.

At Gathering Place Trading, we take allergen handling and food safety seriously. Our products are carefully processed and packaged in our facility in Campbell River, BC, using strict allergen protocols.

We believe in keeping food simple and transparent:
• No fillers
• No additives
• No preservatives
• Non-irradiated spices

We also conduct routine testing and work closely with our suppliers to support high quality and food safety standards.

A small number of products carry precautionary “may contain” statements related to shared harvesting or processing environments outside our facility.

We know ingredient transparency matters deeply to many families, and we’re always happy to answer questions about specific products 💛
