Harvest season = a little bit of everything happening all at once.

We’ve been out picking grapes, punching down our Atelier Red, and keeping a close eye on the rosé as it ferments away....and Remi has a new toy to put to work - because apparently harvest wasn’t keeping us busy enough already. 😂

There’s something bittersweet about winding down another season and saying goodbye to the customers, visitors and familiar faces who filled our tasting room and patio over the warmer months.

Bold raspberry and spice meet bright acidity, with notes of black licorice and a subtle touch of vanilla on the finish. Aged for 12 months in new and neutral French oak, then bottled unfined and unfiltered, it’s a true expression of our minimal-intervention approach.

Safe to say we’ve been BUSY! 🍇

The weather has been incredible, and we’ve been making the most of every sunny day with harvest in full swing. Grapes are coming off the vines, and there’s no slowing down around here.

It’s one of our favourite times of year at Red Bird - a little chaotic, a lot of hard work, and pretty exciting to see another vintage starting to take shape.

And yes, the tasting room is still open! Come see us, enjoy a glass, and catch a little glimpse of harvest season in the Creston Valley!

How these beautiful fall days are meant to be spent!

A great little before + after.

Once our grapes are picked, one of the first steps is destemming. The whole clusters are fed through a machine that gently separates the grapes from their stems. The berries move on to the next stage of w**emaking, while the stems are removed and collected separately.

It might not be the most glamorous part of harvest, but seeing a bin full of whole clusters turn into a mountain of destemmed grapes is pretty satisfying.

From vine to w**e, there are a whole lot of steps happening behind the scenes - and this is one of them!
