Another beautiful summer has come and gone. The garden is giving its final show.
This year I came to realize why I love flowers so much.
They transform a space from dull to colourful, yes. But their beauty never lasts. It's fleeting. In a time where we're were encouraged to plan for the next thing, flowers keep me tethered to the present moment. Their fleeting beauty is the feature, not the flaw.
The transience of flowers is maybe what makes them so incredibly special.
One day they are lighting up your kitchen table, and the next day they are dropping petals ready to make their exit.
To embrace impermanence, and to soak up the beauty of here and now, I think that's the gift of flowers. You walk past a patch of zinnias exploding with colour in your garden. You witness the afternoon light on the dahlias sitting on your work desk.
Maybe there's liberation in knowing that nothing lasts forever, and that the gift is always right in front of us!💫
