Greens are restocked at Jerseyland! Frosts are looming and these could be our last greens, so grab what you can.

We had the lake to ourselves. Perfect silence (except for the 5 kids). The water was perfect and the weather was amazing.
This was a 1.4km mostly uphill hike-in, but the 4 year old made it without issue and the scenery was worth it.
What is your favourite hike, secluded beach or wilderness destination in the Kootenay-Boundary area??

We have decided to do a test run of our Harvest Box delivery program. 📦
We’ve done farm share boxes in years past but life has been too chaotic for the last few years - now seems as good of a time as any 🫜

This Friday July 31 will be the first delivery! 🚚

Boxes will be $40 with options for add-ons like eggs, and extra veggies. 🥗

Cabbage

Add-ons:
Eggs - $6
Beets - $3
Cabbage -$6
Cucumbers -$2

Some crops may be struggling, but not the beets!
We’ve always had difficulty growing beets but for whatever reason, they are flourishing this year! Find them at Jerseyland this weekend, and next week.

Halter training, training to a call, desensitization to touch and handling are one of the best things you can do for cattle. In large herds that can be difficult but smaller herds and homestead livestock are easy to train and the rewards are immeasurable. Some of our cows like Eddie (Edna) are halter trained, others are command trained and all are call-trained. Feeding them right after calling them with a high pitched signal (we use hEEEEREEEE cOOOOWS - in a melodic high pitched tone) is the easiest way to start them associating the sound and food or treats.
The whole point of doing this is to reduce stress. Stress on you, stress on your cows. The last thing you want to do is get a cow stressed out when moving pastures or worse doctoring.
This morning we were preg-checking and the process was simple and painless even though the cows were in different groups, in different pastures.
We can do wellness checks on the forest group with a holler, they come running, get their treat, we can check them over and it’s done.
