A little straggler arrived!
Calf no 14 and bull no 7.

So this years ratio is 50/50... so far. Maybe we get another surprise 🤞

And of course momma Honey decided a good time would be in pouring rain. But other than that she's doing a really great job. The little fella is doing good and is frolicking around already.

Welcome to the farm Perky Pete!

Little backstory for what you can achieve with patience...
Honey was a feral girl. The kind you couldn't turn your back on.
3 years of patience and observation later and I'm able to give her treats, groom her and even handle her calf. She seems to draw the line when it comes to her udder but we're working on that too.
Not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud to gained the trust of this big feisty girl!

It's a boy with heterochromia!

Val (Thunder Ridge Fortress) always lets us wait and throws the biggest fellas in the end. Not gonna lie, a heifer would be nice but she made up for it with that amazing looking guy.

He's having two different eye colours - a blue (right) and a dark one (left side). It's called heterochromia and is in my opinion pretty neat.

Momma and her handsome boy are doing great and are enjoying their bonding time. He seems very chilled and already likes cuddles and to be loved on.

Blessed with another little heifer!
Calf no 12 arrived this early morning.

At first I didn't even notice the new member until I heard that very distinguish moo-sound of a proud momma. Jessie (Patterchon) and her little bundle of joy are doing great on this beautiful sunny morning.

11th calf of the season hit the ground!
It's a boy as black as coal!

Leader of the fold Islay is an experienced momma and welcomed her little pitch black bull smoothly into this world.
Within the shortest he was dry, up and sucking. Easy!

Calf no. 10 is here and yesterday night I could finally confirm... It's a heifer!

Momma Jellybean is highly protective and I kinda ruined it for me with her.
My attempt to seperate her due to having a hard time did end in me being chased for a few feet. I blame it on the hormones since she's otherwise very submissive and easy to get along with.

But baby girl is doing good and obviously more than safe with momma.

Calf no. 9 hit the ground. A new fella.

Sweet momma Hopdrop gave quietly and secretly this early morning birth to a dun bull. The little guy is just as relaxed as his mom and enjoyed right away some cuddles.
I call that a good start in the day!

Calf no 8 hit the ground. A little bull.

Momma Fern is generally of a more nervous temperament and prefers some space without me in sight. The little fella is up, dry and nursing. Time for me to back up.

After about an hour he was already on the other end of the pasture. A wanderer. To his mother's sorrow.
