It’s the final weekend of 2026 for our little farmstand!

Swing by for remaining fall plants/herbs, house plants, canned goodies, dried herbs, and our final liter of maple syrup (1 left for the year!).

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by and supported our farmily this year, brought us back containers to reuse, left a lovely comment/review on our new google pin, or said hello!

We truly love our little community and look forward to what 2027 will bring!

We’ve loved growing and drying flowers for Shelley Somers these past few years. Now, they’re off on their next adventure! These past seasons have been a gift, filled with friendship, community, and the simple magic of homesteading. We’re going to miss you!

A healthy farm and a healthy ecosystem don't always have to be at odds! Sometimes, a good guardian can give everyone a chance to coexist.

The other week, an American fisher got a little too interested in our livestock. Thankfully, Atlas was on duty. He treed the fisher, giving us the time we needed to make sure everyone stayed safe. We allowed the fisher to leave on its own, and waited until it had moved on before letting the rest of the animals out for the day.

Fishers are an important part of healthy ecosystems. As native predators, they help keep populations of small mammals and other prey or 'pest' species in balance. While we certainly don't want one hanging around our livestock, we also don't want to harm an animal simply for being in its natural environment. We moved into its home!

That's one of the things we appreciate most about having a good farm dog; he doesn't just protect our animals, he gives us another option besides immediately reaching for a more permanent solution.

Hopefully our visitor got enough of a scare from Atlas to decide that our farm isn't the place to come hunting! And GOSH are they ever cute!

This Tuesday (Sept 29) in Parry Sound, the Georgian Bay Biosphere is hosting a Garlic Workshop and I’ll be facilitating it!

We will learn about garlic from variety types, to planting and harvest. We’ll even chat a bit about the different ways to preserve your harvest!

My garden birthed a 37 pound squash toddler!

Excited to try this Italian variety, Naples Long Pumpkin, in all the different ways: grilled, fried, in soup, etc! What’s your favourite way to eat squash?

August on the farm:

Fruit ripening, cantaloupes ready for picking, corn on the cob and fresh veggies filling the kitchen, turkeys growing bigger by the day, golden summer sunsets, and happy pups soaking up every bit of farm life.

A month full of good food and went by in the blink of an eye 💚

It’s been a hard few weeks adjusting to life on the farm without Dominic and Daisy.

As many of you know, they were a bonded pair, and after many conversations over the past year about what was best for them, the rest of our herd, and our lives, we made the incredibly difficult decision to find them a new home…together.

Dominic had decided that being part of the sheep management team wasn’t really his calling… unless the job description involved bullying the sheep. As much as we loved his big personality, it became clear that he was over his job and had dreams of bigger fields with less responsibilities.

Knowing it was the right decision doesn’t make missing them any easier. Their absence is felt every single day. From the routines we’d grown so used to (aka screaming bloody murder the second the front door opened), to the little moments that made us laugh, and even the chaos that somehow managed to derail an entire day’s plans. We miss their goofy personalities, their antics, and the joy they brought to our farm more than words can say.

We’re so grateful they were able to stay together and are settling into their new home, where they can continue being the inseparable duo they’ve always been the last 6 years. Our farm feels a little quieter, and our hearts a little emptier, without them. ❤️
