July slipped by in the best way. 🌿

The babies grew a little bigger, the sheep found plenty of ways to keep us humble, and the pastures finally soaked up enough sunshine after such a wet spring. The gardens are bursting to life, and the first harvests making their way to the table and farmstand. Here’s a few snapshots of what July looked like around the homestead ❤️

It’s been a hard few weeks adjusting to life on the farm without Dominic and Daisy.

As many of you know, they were a bonded pair, and after many conversations over the past year about what was best for them, the rest of our herd, and our lives, we made the incredibly difficult decision to find them a new home…together.

Dominic had decided that being part of the sheep management team wasn’t really his calling… unless the job description involved bullying the sheep. As much as we loved his big personality, it became clear that he was over his job and had dreams of bigger fields with less responsibilities.

Knowing it was the right decision doesn’t make missing them any easier. Their absence is felt every single day. From the routines we’d grown so used to (aka screaming bloody murder the second the front door opened), to the little moments that made us laugh, and even the chaos that somehow managed to derail an entire day’s plans. We miss their goofy personalities, their antics, and the joy they brought to our farm more than words can say.

We’re so grateful they were able to stay together and are settling into their new home, where they can continue being the inseparable duo they’ve always been the last 6 years. Our farm feels a little quieter, and our hearts a little emptier, without them. ❤️

Over the weekend, we surpassed 700 intakes and are currently receiving an extremely high volume of calls a day. Please read below for some helpful resources and reminders if we're unable to answer you right away during this busy time.

⚠️If you find an injured turtle, please place it in a dry container, note the exact location where it was found, and call us at 705-741-5000, option 9. Please leave only one voicemail and our team will get back to you as soon as they can. Our hospital is open daily between 8:00am-8:00pm, and if you can drive the turtle to us, please use our hospital entrance and hand it off to a staff member during these operating hours.

⚠️Can't drive to Peterborough? We can help assist getting the turtle to our hospital through our volunteer Turtle Taxi Program! You MUST have the turtle in your possession for us to be able to assist, as we don't have resources to travel and locate each turtle. Keep in mind that it will take time to arrange these rides. While you wait, leave the turtle in the well-ventilated container. Place it in a location that is dark, quiet, room temperature, and away from pets.
