Vanilla infused whipped tallow smells so good!

Had a little left so I used some on my hands and arms, because why not! Nice and soft! :)

It's tallow rendering and projects around here now that the canning and preserving has slowed down.

Vanilla infused is limited, but with how good it smells I'll be sure to make more!

I usually have some available at Cowboy Tools if you prefer to shop in town for some tallow or soaps, or feel free to message me and I can hook you up! In Ponoka, Lacombe and Red Deer fairly regularly happy to meet.

Good morning! I got lots of questions after sharing yesterdays story so thought I'd share here.

Yes, I was indeed making vanilla extract. :)

We first made our own about a year or so ago and I've been using for 5 ish months now. Was super easy to do and I think was likely cheaper than purchasing.

I like the extract from the rum best myself, but we had a bottle of gin in cupboard that wasn't going to be used so we opted to try it out. Works for baking, but I wouldn't buy it again for this. We also tried with a partial bottle of vodka which worked well.

I used 2.5oz of vanilla beans in the 750 ml bottle. I had to pour out a little so it wouldn't over flow, then just used my pairing knife to split the beans in half. I would say roughly 30 beans, but can vary between the variety of beans, etc. This year I grabbed some beans from Costco.

Should be good to use in about 5 months, but the longer it sits the better. Took about 5 minutes to do, got it labeled and in the back of the cupboard until I want to use it. Set it and forget!

Happy Friday! Been a busy day for everyone around here!

My sister Hannah, and dad have been busy combining some oats for the cows today. Hannah even sent me some fun pics!

While Brennen has been running around fixing up trucks and cleaning yard, I've been busy in the kitchen taking care of tons of apples and peppers that needed dealt with. The kids are excited for some more apple chips and basically anything apple related that can go into a mason jar! Fingers crossed theyll last more than a month or so lol.

Good evening! Looks like we should have some extra chickens available tomorrow if anyone is interested. They were raised on organic starter, with a non organic grower but moved around on grass regularly. Perfect to fill your freezer with.

I won't know weights until after they have been processed, but as we are butchering on farm they must be sold prior to butcher. Feel free to send me a message for more details. Usually 5-8lb birds, $6.5/lb

Hey everyone,

We have had two indicents of a gate along hway 53 being opened by someone.... not us. They were wide open, not something the cows would have done, and what looked like tracks headed into the field. This has led to cows getting out on the highway. Thankfully no one or no animals have been hurt. We are working on getting a head count to be sure they are all there, as well as padlocking the gate.

That said if you happen to see anyone parked there please send me a message. And a gentle reminder in case this needs said... do not open gates and go onto someone else's property.

And thanks to everyone who stopped to help me get them back in!!! Very appreciated!
