Meet Joanne!

Joanne has been shopping at Homesteaders for as long as she can remember, and we're so thankful to have been a part of her family's table for all these years.

Her favourite products are our breaded pork cutlets, and she says it's the knowledgeable butchers and friendly staff that make all the difference.

"The butchers are always so educated and have always been able to help."

We just want to personally thank the 1,000+ new followers who have joined us since we took over Homesteader Meats two months ago. We’ve been so incredibly grateful for the positivity, encouragement, and support you’ve shown us.

And to all of the long-time Homesteader customers and supporters who have been here long before we took over — thank you, too. Your continued support means so much to us.

This weekend, Homesteader Meats had the honour of purchasing the Grand Champion swine at the 4-H auction, and we couldn’t be more proud to support such an incredible program in our community!

Behind every animal at the auction is a young person who has poured countless hours, early mornings, hard work, dedication and love into raising and caring for their project. These kids are learning responsibility, agriculture, animal husbandry, leadership and so many valuable skills that will stay with them for life.

Programs like 4-H are so important to the future of agriculture and to keeping farming practices and knowledge alive in our communities.

We’re incredibly proud to stand behind these young farmers and be part of an event that celebrates all the work they’ve put in.

Congratulations to all of this year’s 4-H members — you should be incredibly proud of yourselves!

The 4-H auction is happening this weekend, and we want to take a moment to encourage everyone in our community to come out and support these incredible young people.

4-H is so much more than raising an animal for the auction. It teaches responsibility, dedication, animal care, business skills, confidence and the value of hard work. Most importantly, programs like 4-H play a huge role in keeping agriculture and farming practices alive for the next generation.

At Homesteaders, we believe strongly in supporting the youth who will help carry our local agricultural community forward. Our windows are currently lined with information about many of this year's 4-H members, and we'll be at the auction this weekend to see what’s available and support the kids who have put so much time and effort into their projects.

And, of course, we have a little future 4H-er of our own. Henry will be joining 4-H as soon as he’s old enough — but around our farm, you could say he’s already getting his practice in every single day.

So if you’re able, show up, bid, support a kid and support agriculture in our community. Every bit of community support makes a difference.
