Even the bees are absolutely loving the lisianthus this year. I am so excited about how amazing they are looking. Hopefully the next 7 days forecast isn’t to devastating to the buds that are getting ready to burst

The sunflowers have never looked so lush. The heat and lots of rain was just what this Doctor ordered. 😊

About two months ago we did a little flower sale to raise the funds to get shelving for the new walk in cooler so I wasn’t killing myself walking up and down the stairs 50 times a day and lugging buckets of flowers on market day from the basement. Well here’s a little peek. I am absolutely loving how it’s coming together. We have room for one more shelf in there I think. It has only been two weeks that I am working in the sea-can but it has already been a game changer. Thank you for every flower purchase at the market, every special order during the week and every wedding that we do. I truly appreciate all the support that allows us to slowly and steadily work on the infrastructure here….big or small!

It is Canadian flowers week. This is just a reminder that we can grow beautiful things here that aren’t sprayed or dipped in copious amount of chemicals just to keep the bugs away. These beauties were cut just two days ago and I can’t wait to work with them.
Sometimes people ask me at the market why their pets are more intrigued by my flowers vs the ones from the grocery store. I question if they are more in tune to the harsh chemicals that imported flowers are bathed in.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good rose here and there and we need them to bring arrangements together sometimes but we try to use imports as sparingly as possible. Even when we order in flowers we are always trying to bring in other local Ontario grown beauties. So love your Canadian farmers!

Happy Sunday! For those of you waiting to know here is yesterday’s flower mystery:

Echinacea FRESCO™ 'Apricot'

She is really frilly, and has these amazing undertones of purple. She is absolutely stunning and is growing well in the field. We trialed a few different types and she is my favourite. We are watching to see how long she lasts in the vase.

She can only be grown from plugs so unfortunately no seed starting for this girl….You have to go and by the plant. You can collect seed from any echinacea but the specialty cultivars never come back true. They will revert back to the originals they were born from. They will be the traditional pink/purple coneflowers that everyone is familiar with. People will try to fool you all over the internet so be wise to their game!
