Ranch hand position
Dodds Ranching Ltd. is looking for a reliable and hard-working ranch hand. We are a family run cow/calf and backgrounder operation located near Tofield, AB. This position covers all aspects of ranching. Our operation primarily uses horses to move and work cattle; however, this is not a full-time riding position.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Calving
- Moving herds
- Pasture checks
- Maintaining overall herd health
- Doctoring
- Fencing (both temporary electric and permanent)
- Haying
- Feeding cattle (winter)
- Other general ranch duties as assigned
The successful candidate must possess the following:
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Experience operating machinery and power tools
- Solid herd health knowledge and ability to identify and doctor livestock
- Understanding of low-stress cattle handling
- Physically fit to perform duties and work under adverse weather conditions.
- Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract required.
Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
Job type: Seasonal, full time with the option to continue year-round. Flexible work schedule.
